Trump expresses gratitude to Melania at Governors dinner, Internet says she ‘deserves appreciation’

President Donald Trump made some candid predictions about the future of American leadership at the National Governors Association dinner

WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump was thankful to his wife Melania during the National Governors Association dinner on Saturday, February 22.

While delivering his speech in front of governors and their partners, the president said, as reported by the Daily Mail, “Let me begin by expressing our gratitude to the first lady of the United States for hosting the dinner.”

“She worked very hard on making sure everything was beautiful. She's very good at that... Thank you for doing such a great job, honey. Really great. Really beautiful,” he added.



 

Donald Trump says Republicans and Democrats are ‘together’

The event was attended by governors from all the political parties as he also playfully noted, “Someday, somebody sitting in this room is probably going to be here for four or eight years. We don't know who it is... I have some suspicions, but you never know, right?”

Trump also expressed via his speech that his intention is to support all states and their leaders no matter which party they belong to.

“We have to get the job done for the people, you're doing the job and I'm doing the job... we're working together,” the 78-year-old leader shared.

He added, “My number, write it into your wallets or on your person because I am open to anybody, Republican or Democrat. If we can help, you're going to call me up and we'll take care of it. You'll call the secretaries, you'll call the Cabinet members, but if they don't do the job, and I think they will, you'll call me and we'll take care of it.”

Donald Trump praises ‘some’ Democrats

Elsewhere during his speech, Donald Trump admitted that Democrats have “some really great talent.”

He said, “You have some really great talent on the other side. I won't say how good some of the Democrats are but some of you are doing a really great job.”

Trump also gave a shout-out to Vice President JD Vance and his wife the Second Lady, Usha. “We have some people I've become very close to - Vice President Vance, Second Lady Usha Vance. Thank you very much, what a great start,” he stated.

Donald Trump tells governors that he’s ‘just a phone call away’

The Republican further congratulated “the eight new governors attending tonight,” as he noted, “I have a tremendous respect for the burdens you bear overseeing state police forces, directing disaster relief efforts.”

“This evening we're not Democrats or Republicans, we're America's chief executives to make our country run and run properly. I'm always just a phone call away,” Trump asserted.
