Trump falsely boasts Tiffany graduated 'no. 1' from Georgetown Law School which has no ranking criteria
CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA: During a recent visit to North Carolina, former president Donald Trump made a bold claim about his daughter Tiffany Trump’s academic achievements.
Speaking at an event in Concord, the Republican presidential candidate proudly declared, "She was a great student, and she went to a fantastic law school, graduated No. 1 in her class."
Tiffany Trump's academic record
However, Donald Trump's assertion was easily debunked. Georgetown Law, where Tiffany Trump earned her Juris Doctorate in 2020, does not rank its students—an important fact clearly stated on the school’s website. NBC News further reported that Tiffany is not listed as an honors graduate either, per Mirror.
Before attending Georgetown Law, Tiffany graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology before enrolling in Georgetown Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2020. While her academic achievements are certainly noteworthy, Trump’s exaggerated claims about her class standing continue a pattern of hyperbole that has drawn criticism.
Donald Trump repeats disputed claims about FEMA funds during Hurricane Helene
While in North Carolina, Donald Trump was also surveying hurricane damage caused by Hurricane Helene, using the platform to reiterate his long-standing criticisms of federal emergency responders.
He repeated debunked claims that FEMA's hurricane response had been hampered because the agency's budget was used for aiding undocumented immigrants. The former president took the opportunity to voice dissatisfaction with federal efforts, despite a recent pause in relief work due to threats against responders.
Nevertheless, the claim had already been refuted weeks earlier by US Rep Chuck Edwards, R-NC, who stood behind Trump during the event. “Well, I think you have to let people know how they’re doing,” Trump stated. “If they were doing a great job, I think we should say that, too, because I think they should be rewarded. ... If they’re doing a poor job, we’re supposed to not say it?"
Kamala Harris vs Donald Trump polls
As the final weeks before Election Day approaches, Donald Trump and his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, are intensifying their campaign efforts. Both Harris and Trump have states they can probably count on to get at least 200 electoral votes, but they need to get to 270 to win.
Trump held rallies across North Carolina, appealing to Christian voters with familiar talking points, including his criticism of transgender athletes and promises of large-scale deportations. Meanwhile, Harris has been focusing on key battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, in her bid to lock up crucial electoral votes.
Polls show the VP leading among voters nationwide. According to the BBC, she has a 48 percent to 46 percent advantage over Trump in the national polling averages.
