LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actor Mark Ruffalo recently took to X to criticize the Trump administration's potential military actions against Iran. He warned that any such action would likely escalate into a full-scale war and urged lawmakers to step in and hold a formal debate before putting soldiers in danger.

Ruffalo was supporting a move by Representative Ro Khanna, who stated that "Trump officials" are suggesting "there's a 90% chance of strikes on Iran."

Ruffalo made it very clear that he does not believe the president has the authority to act alone, stating, "Trump is no King."

His main point is that Congress has a duty to discuss the pros and cons of going to war rather than allowing the executive branch to decide on its own. He is backing Representative Ro Khanna’s plan, who stated on social media, "He can’t without Congress. Rep Thomas Massie and I have a War Powers Resolution to debate & vote on war before putting US troops in harm’s way. I will make a motion to discharge to force a vote on it next week."

He pointed to past conflicts such as Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the situation in Palestine as examples, calling them "disasters of war" that the US should learn from rather than repeat.

Ruffalo also expressed frustration, describing these conflicts as "a bloody stain on America’s soul," while stating, "every one an amoral disaster of weapons manufacturer’s making."

Mark Ruffalo backs anti-ICE protest at Golden Globes

Ruffalo’s stance is part of a broader trend of Hollywood figures using high-profile moments to advocate for political and social change.

Alongside the "No Kings" protests, many celebrities have sought to highlight the concerns of marginalized groups and those affected by immigration enforcement.

During the Golden Globes red carpet, for instance, Ruffalo was among those who voiced support for protests against ICE policies.
