WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump entertained the audience during his inauguration speech at Emancipation Hall, with amusing comments about his wife, first lady Melania Trump, and the difficulties she encountered at the event.

While taking the oath of office as the 47th president of the United States of America, Trump shared a story about how Melania wore heels and her feet hurt; wanting nothing more than to return, however she put up with the discomfort to go with the president to meet some fans.

Trump joked in his speech about how his wife Melania, who was standing next to him in high heels, was uncomfortable during the ceremony.

The new president complimented his wife of almost 20 years for "being incredible" during his big day, even if her feet were "absolutely aching."

In a snippet shared by The Independent, Trump said: "I have a first lady who has been incredible. I shouldn’t say this. I’m going to get hell when I say this, but her feet are absolutely aching."

"You know, those heels," he quipped, alluding to the 4-inch heels Melania wore as part of her inauguration outfit.

According to Daily Mail, Melania, 54, attended the event wearing a pair of navy blue Manolo Blahnik BB suede shoes, which cost $825. The shoes had a pointed toe, leather sole and lining, and a four-inch heel.

"And, we thought we were leaving, we were going home," the president added. However, he was told he still needed to meet more people. He then inquired as to Melania's ability to descend and "say hello" to some other admirers.

Trump told a lighthearted story about how Melania inquired about the distance they would have to go after the ceremony. She told him, "Darling, I love you so much, but my feet are killing."

In a hilarious response, Trump reportedly quipped, "Oh, not that long, maybe four to five hundred yards. That’s five football fields."

"And I asked, 'Can you make it?' She said, 'We’re going to make it. No matter what, we’re going to make it'," he added.

The first lady accessorized the heels with American designer Adam Lippes' long, fitted navy-blue coat. Although the jacket's precise cost is unknown, the designer's website lists a comparable one for $4,290.

She accessorized the otherwise basic outfit with a white wrap top underneath. The main attraction, though, was her enormous Eric Javits-designed wide-brimmed blue hat with a flat top and white trim.

Melania Trump created fashion statement at inauguration ceremonies

Melania Trump drew attention with her stylish appearance at her husband's second inauguration. The incoming first lady chose a chic navy-and-white outfit, showcasing her immaculate fashion choice once again.

She avoided her favorite European brands (although she chose Dior and Dolce & Gabbana for the many pre-inauguration events) and instead highlighted two designers whose unfamiliar brands might experience a sharp increase in sales as a result of her presidential support.

Designer Adam Lippes said in a statement issued on Monday morning that dressing Melania for an occasion that "embodies the beauty of American democracy" had been a "honor" for his New York atelier.

He went on to say that "America's finest craftsman" created the first lady's ensemble. Moreover, Eric proudly mentioned that Melania was wearing his handmade design, which he revealed he had manufactured himself.

He added that only 8% of the hat's stitching was machine-sewn. "No other hands touched it… prior to Herve [Pierre, Melania's personal stylist] and the First Lady receiving it," Eric claimed.

The first lady used little diamond studs as an accessory and wore her hair in a sophisticated bun.
