TOKYO, JAPAN: President Donald Trump went on a rant, saying he does not like "good-looking people" while addressing US troops in Japan.

During a visit to US troops aboard the USS George Washington, the commander-in-chief declared, “I don’t like good-looking people.”

Trump touts US might, jokes about Nobel Prize

The event took place in the Tokyo region on Tuesday, October 28, with Japan’s newly minted Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, standing beside him. Trump made a grand entrance, descending on a giant lift and striding across the deck.

“You see that nobody makes equipment like we do. Nobody makes the ammunition, the weapons, the missiles, planes, none of it,” Trump told the roaring crowd of sailors. “And if they do, the American sailor stands ready to crush them and sink them and wreck them and blast them into oblivion, right?”

Then, realizing he might’ve gone a little too far, Trump quipped that was a "terrible statement to make." He added, “That’s the end of it because everybody said that I should immediately get the Nobel Peace Award.”

It’s worth noting that Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi had actually said earlier that day she’d nominate him for next year’s Nobel Peace Prize. “With that statement, that takes me out of the running,” Trump joked.

Trump says he doesn't like 'good looking people'

The POTUS told the crowd that America’s military strength isn’t just about its gear, it’s about its people. “It comes from the men and women of the rank and file,” he said. “It comes from you people, incredible people, good-looking people, too many good-looking people.”

“I don’t like good-looking people,” Trump bizarrely declared to laughter. “I never liked good-looking people, I’ll be honest with you. Never admitted that before,” he added.

Trump then praised how the Pentagon had dropped diversity and inclusion programs under his administration.

“Everything now in our country is based on merit, and that’s why I look at you and see nothing but merit,” he said proudly. “It’s great to have a country back where we can go by merit. Now we don’t go by anything else except for talent and work and hard work.”

He went on to announce an “across-the-board pay raise” for all US military personnel. “But now, all we really have to do is get the Democrats to approve it,” Trump teased. “But they’ll come along, they always do.”

Trump mocks Joe Biden, jokes about wanting to be an admiral

“Biden used to say he was a pilot,” Trump told the crowd, mocking former President Joe Biden. “He was a pilot, he was a truck driver, whatever, whoever, walked in. He wasn’t a pilot.”

“He wasn’t too much of a president either, to be honest with you," he cracked. The jab drew laughter from the crowd. While Biden never actually claimed to be a pilot, he has told some eyebrow-raising stories, including one about his pilot uncle being eaten by cannibals.

Somewhere between the jokes and the jabs, Trump even shared a far-fetched dream. “I always wanted to be an admiral, to be honest,” he said. “I love those uniforms.”

Trump gushes about US-Japan prospects

As mentioned, Trump arrived at the event alongside Prime Minister Takaichi, who was sworn in just last week. She is a protege of Trump’s late friend, former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was tragically assassinated in 2022.

At one point, Trump called Takaichi up to speak. “This woman is a winner!” he declared while introducing her.

“So, you know, we’ve become very close friends all of a sudden, because their stock market today and our stock market today hit an all-time high,” he said, adding, “That means we’re doing something right.”
