Trump mocks heckler at South Carolina rally: 'Your mom is voting for us'
MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA: President Donald Trump turned an interruption at his South Carolina rally into a joke about the protester’s mother on Friday, August 21.
As the person was led out of the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, Trump watched the commotion and suggested the heckler would have some explaining to do at home. According to Trump, the protester’s mother was voting for him. The unexpected remark quickly became the standout moment of the rally.

The interruption happened at about 7.30 pm when Trump was speaking, and a protester stood up to disrupt the event.
Police and convention center staff moved the person toward the exit as Trump briefly stopped to watch.
“That’s all right. That person’s going home to mom,” Trump said. He then took the joke a step further.
“Gonna get scolded because mom is voting for us. You know, mom is voting for us,” Trump added.
The audience erupted in laughter as Trump continued watching the heckler being escorted out.
Trump did not try to debate the protester or spend several minutes addressing the interruption.
The person was taken out of the convention center while the president made his remark, and Trump soon returned to what he had been discussing.

The exchange was brief, but the mother reference gave Trump an easy way to turn an awkward interruption into a laugh from the crowd.
President campaigns for Darline Graham Nordone
Trump was in Myrtle Beach because Republican Senate candidate Darline Graham Nordone is facing a runoff on Tuesday, and the president was urging his supporters to make sure they turn out.
Trump acknowledged that he himself would not be on the ballot. His solution was to ask voters to imagine otherwise.
“If Trump isn’t actually on the ballot,” he said, “pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot.”
He repeated the message as he encouraged Republicans not to sit out the race.
Trump said he had personally encouraged Graham Nordone to run and argued that she would be a strong ally for his agenda in Washington.
"You were one of his closest friends. I hope you know that," Sen. Darline Graham (R-SC) told President Trump on Friday. "And you will forever be part of the Graham family for that."
