WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump spoke to a crowd at the White House Christmas party, which had been freshly decorated for the holidays by first lady Melania Trump, according to clips shared on Monday, December 1, by his communications advisor Margo Martin.

He also offered remarks to supporters and acknowledged the recent tragic events affecting members of the West Virginia National Guard. The appearance came as Melania unveiled the 2025 White House holiday decor under the theme “Home Is Where the Heart Is.”

Trump dropped by the inaugural Christmas party of his second term and addressed those gathered with a message to supporters. He said, “I just want to let you know it’s an honor for me to be your president… We are going to do a great job. We have three years left, that’s an eternity.”

He added, “This is a very special place.” Trump then joked with a smile that “three years with Trump is an eternity, that’s a long period of time.” The crowd cheered loudly as he repeated, “A long time.”

During his remarks, Trump also took a moment to honor members of the National Guard after the recent shooting by an Afghan immigrant.

He stated, “I want to pay my respects to the National Guard and those two incredible people,” adding, “One is no longer with us… and we have another who is fighting for his life.”

The president previously said he has discussed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

He told reporters, “When you’re ready, because that's a tough thing, come to the White House. We're going to honor Sarah. And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

In closing, he extended a warm holiday greeting, saying, “Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy New Year. Enjoy the White House!”

Patriotic and family themes highlight Melania’s Christmas design

Melania Trump unveiled the 2025 White House Christmas decor alongside the holiday party. This year’s decorations are extensive and symbolic.

Highlights include 51 Christmas trees adorned with large red velvet bows, 75 wreaths, more than 25,000 feet of ribbon, over 2,000 strands of lights, 700 feet of garland, 120 pounds of gingerbread, and more than 10,000 blue butterflies.

One of the most striking pieces is a 6,000-piece LEGO portrait of Trump, displayed in the White House as part of the holiday showcase.

Each room features its own sub-theme. The East Room carries a patriotic motif in recognition of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Red Room is themed “Fostering the Future,” while the Green Room is styled “Family Fun.”
