WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump ripped into Fox News' senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, March 19, after she criticized him for promoting Tesla at the White House.

“I watched Jacqui Heinrich from Fox over the weekend and I thought she was absolutely terrible. She should be working for CNN, not Fox,” wrote Trump. “Not surprisingly, I later found out that she’s a fan of the White House Correspondents Association!”

Why did Donald Trump attack Jacqui Heinrich?

According to Mediaite, the POTUS seemingly referred to the segment from Fox News Sunday when Jacqui Heinrich was interviewing Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) in his rant.

She noted that the Trump advisor Elon Musk's electronic vehicle company Tesla had raised concerns over the federal administration's implementation of tariffs, before asking about the March 11 Tesla display at the White House.

“Sir, there was basically a display at the White House there. He surveyed some cars. It was happening as, you know, Americans’ 401(k) accounts were facing some struggles because of this tariff war happening right now,” Heinrich told the GOP Senator.

"Was that an appropriate thing for the president to do there? Was it sensitive to the moment that we are in buying a car, using the White House as a — as a backdrop for that?” she asked.

Earlier on Wednesday, Heinrich also pressed White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on fellow Fox News contributor Andy McCarthy's analysis of the high-profile deportation case involving the Trump administration.

McCarthy reportedly expressed his concern about how Trump was attempting to wield the Alien Enemies Act. Leavitt responded by saying that the administration disagreed “with the legal opinion of the individual that (Heinrich) mentioned,” while slamming anyone who agreed with McCarthy.

Internet defends Jacqui Heinrich against Trump's criticism

After Trump called out Jacqui Heinrich on Truth Social, Fox News' chief political analyst Brit Hume came out in defense of his colleague on the social media platform X.

"I watched her too. She plays it straight, covering both sides of a story, and has certainly played fair with you. You may have a case against some White House reporters, but not @JacquiHeinrich," he wrote.

Netizens mostly supported his view and defended Heinrich, with one writing, "Sometimes I don’t understand the leader of the free world being petty like this."

"Trump has surrounded himself with 'yes-people' for so long that he probably believes he is perfect, and all others must loyally echo his collection of falsities," expressed another.

"Trump can't see both sides. Only his side. Any effort to represent both sides makes you look 'terrible' in his eyes," noted a third.

"Good grief, imagine being 78 years old and whining like a Junior high girl," jibed a fourth.

"What a totally miserable person you are," mocked a fifth.

"America doesn't have to worship you... I voted for you but you're getting creepy AF," said another.
