WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump said he does not want any deal to move forward if it is filled with what he called “crazy country destroying” elements. He stressed that such issues should be addressed immediately unless the deal includes the 'SAVE America Act'.

He described the act as far more important than any other discussion currently taking place in the Senate. On Monday, March 23, he posted a message criticising Democrats, accusing them of creating a mess. He also pointed to voter ID approval as an important issue. In addition, he said that leader John Thune should clearly identify the few “Republicans” who are voting against America.

Trump has previously stated that he strongly supports passing the 'SAVE America Act'. He made it clear that he would not sign any other bill unless this act is agreed upon by both Republicans and Democrats.

Trump demands Democrats back 'SAVE America Act' before any deal

Trump shared a Truth Social post and said that no deal should go forward unless Democrats support the act. He said this bill is more important than anything else being discussed in the Senate. He also asked leaders to move faster and consider ending the filibuster.

In a long post, Trump said, "I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats unless, and until, they Vote with Republicans to pass “THE SAVE AMERICA ACT.”

He said the bill is the top priority right now. "It is far more important than anything else we are doing in the Senate," he wrote.

Trump also spoke against a funding deal and said he would not accept it without changes. "A Five Billion Dollar cut in ICE funding is unacceptable to me and the American people - UNLESS it includes their approval of Voter ID, (with picture!), Citizenship to Vote, No Mail-In Voting (with exceptions), All Paper Ballots.."

He added more points he wants included in the same bill. "No Men In Women’s Sports, and No Transgender MUTILIZATION of our precious children." Trump also said John Thune should point out Republicans who do not support this plan.

At the end, he asked for one combined vote and quick action. "Put it all together and VOTE!!! Kill the Filibuster, and stay in DC for Easter, if necessary. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"

Trump warns he won’t sign bills without voting law changes

Previously, Trump made it clear that he may refuse to sign any new bills unless Congress passes stricter voting rules. This adds pressure on lawmakers as the 2026 midterm elections come closer.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday, March 8, Trump repeated his stand. "I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed," he wrote, referring to the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act. He said the bill should be taken up first. "Go to the front of the line."

If passed, the act would change how people register and vote in the US. It would require proof of citizenship, such as a US passport or a birth certificate, along with a valid photo ID. At present, it is already illegal for non-US citizens to vote in federal elections.
