PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: President-elect Donald Trump insisted he and former president Barack Obama "probably" like each other after a clip of their seemingly friendly interaction went viral on social media on Thursday, January 9.

While addressing reporters at his Mar-a-Lago residence, Donald Trump was asked about his conversation with Barack Obama.

"It did look very friendly, I must say." responded the 78-year-old businessman. "I didn't realize how friendly it looked. I saw it ... just a little while ago before I came in, and I said, 'Boy, they look like two people that like each other.' And we probably do."

"We have a little different philosophies, right? But we probably do. I don't know. We just got along. But I got along with just about everybody," he continued.

"We met backstage before we went on, and I thought it was a beautiful service, but we all got along very well. Which is good," concluded Trump.

Internet claims Donald Trump 'wants to be accepted'

Netizens reacting to Trump's comments on the social media platform X believed he wanted to win the approval of the likes of Barack Obama, who is known to oppose his political platform. The former tweets demonstrate their takes.

"There are times I see little Donald Trump, the boy who is desperate for love and approval before he got warped by hate, jealousy, ego etc. It’s really sad and now his trauma has hurt so many ppl. It’s so depressing," wrote a user.

"He wants to be accepted in the club so bad," shared another.

"Backstage. Everything is theater to him," jibed a third.

"He’s in a good mood today, clearly," quipped a fourth.

"All he’s ever wanted is for Obama to like him," chided a fifth.
