Trump says Iran ‘wants peace', calls ceasefire start of ‘Golden Age of the Middle East’
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump shared what he described as a major update on Truth Social, saying it was news the world had been waiting for.
In his post, he spoke about Iran and peace, stating that Iran wants peace and an early ceasefire. He also referred to it as the beginning of a “golden age of the Middle East” and called the moment a significant step for “world peace.”
This statement came shortly after he shared what he described as an official Iranian position on the ceasefire, including acceptance of a general framework based on Iran’s 10-point proposal as a starting point for negotiations. He also criticized CNN for reportedly airing what he called a false statement about Iran.
The agreement reportedly emerged in the fifth week of the conflict, which began after a US strike on Iran on February 28. Israel also supported the US during the operation.
Trump says Iran wants peace, signals early ceasefire hopes
Trump expressed optimism about a potential ceasefire in a post shared on Wednesday, April 8. He suggested that Iran is ready for peace and described the moment as an important step toward stability and cooperation in the region. He also framed the situation as an opportunity for progress and growth.
In his post, he wrote, "A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough! Likewise, so has everyone else! The United States of America will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz."
"There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process. We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just “hangin’ around” in order to make sure that everything goes well," he added. "I feel confident that it will. Just like we are experiencing in the US, this could be the Golden Age of the Middle East!!! President DONALD J TRUMP," he concluded.
Israel and Pakistan talks help push US-Iran ceasefire forward

In an earlier Truth Social post announcing the agreement, Trump said it followed his “conversations” with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Munir, who is Pakistan’s top military leader.
A Trump administration official also told CBS News that Israel had agreed to the general framework of the ceasefire deal.
