Trump shares video of Iran’s biggest bridge destroyed in US strike, warns 'much more to follow'
WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump, sharing a video of Iran’s biggest bridge in the Karaj region collapsing after a US attack, warned Tehran that there was ‘much more to come’ if a deal is not reached.
Warning Tehran of further attack, the president advised the Middle Eastern country to ‘make a deal before it is too late.’
Donald Trump advises Tehran to make deal before it's too late
Trump, on Thursday, April 2, shared a 10-second-long video capturing a massive flume and debris after the apparent collapse of the bridge and said that Iran should “make a deal before there is nothing left.”
According to Iranian state media, as many as 8 people were killed, and 100 others were injured in a US attack on public infrastructure near the capital.
The B1 highway bridge, which was reduced to rubble after a US attack, was a key link between Iran’s capital and the western city of Karaj. The bridge is considered the tallest in the Middle East, and it was inaugurated earlier this year.
"The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again — Much more to follow! IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY!" Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Medical facility targeted in US attack: Iran
Besides the attack on the 136-metre-high bridge, the Iranian authorities also claimed that the US had targeted a medical facility in Tehran.
The images released by the Iranian health ministry showed significant damage to a building identified as the Pasteur Institute of Iran, a century-old research centre.
The latest attack on Iran’s public infrastructure marks a renewed escalation into the hostilities that began with a joint military attack on Iran by the US and Israel on February 28.
Iran threatens American allies in region
After a massive attack destroyed the bridge, Iran has reportedly identified key bridges in American allied nations in the region as targets to retaliate.
The bridge was reportedly attacked twice in a span of 1 hour, resulting in civilian casualties. Informing that two civilians were killed in the first strike on B1 highway, the Iranian state TV reported, saying, “A few minutes ago, the American-Zionist enemy once again targeted the B1 bridge in Karaj.”
Other areas in the Karaj region were also reportedly targeted. The IRGC has reportedly decided to attack the key bridges in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, and the Jordan-West Bank region in response to the strikes on the B1 highway.
