WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump has downplayed renewed interest in the Jeffrey Epstein case, calling it “boring” and “sordid” while suggesting that recently circulated files are part of a politically motivated smear campaign orchestrated by his opponents.

Speaking to reporters outside Air Force One on Tuesday, July 15, Trump seemed frustrated by continued media scrutiny over Epstein’s alleged client list and unresolved questions about the late financier’s connections.

“He’s (been) dead for a long time, he was never a big factor in terms of life,” Trump said. “I don’t understand what the interest or what the fascination is — I really don’t.”

Epstein, a convicted sex offender, died in 2019 in a Manhattan jail cell.

Trump doubled down on his skepticism, stating, “The credible information has been given and suggesting that some of the content in the files could have been fabricated by past administrations, including former FBI Director James Comey, former President Barack Obama, and the Biden administration.

“I don’t understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody,” he added. “It’s pretty boring stuff. It’s sordid, but it’s boring, and I don’t understand why it keeps going. I think really only pretty bad people, including fake news, want to keep something like that going. But credible information — let them give it. Anything that’s credible, I would say, let them have it.”

Donald Trump is facing a fresh wave of online backlash after brushing off the renewed public interest in the Jeffrey Epstein case, calling it “sordid” but ultimately “boring.”

Trump, who has long been dogged by questions about his past association with Epstein, attempted to downplay the attention during a recent press interaction. But the internet was quick to pounce.

One user wrote, “If someone accused me of being on Jeffrey Epstein’s list, and I had the power to clear my name by releasing it… I’d do it immediately. Wouldn’t you? So why isn’t Trump?” while the other user commented, “The biggest gaslighter we seen in office. No accountability, no humility and no relatability. Eat it up red, eat it up.”

Another added, “If the Epstein case is not of interest to anybody, why is Ghislaine Maxwell sitting in jail right now?” The comment refers to Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who faced charges for the abuse.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year federal prison sentence.

One user noted, “Wow he is lying to our faces.”

A separate comment mocked his tone, “‘Nothing to see here’ is exactly what someone on the list would say.”

And another posted bluntly, “Really a terrific liar.”

A user penned, “It's so obvious this is a cover-up, only a demented cultist could think otherwise.”
