ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Former President Donald Trump is currently spreading a rumor that St Louis Cardinals players are mimicking a part of his assassination attempt as a pro-Trump home run celebration, according to Meidas Touch.

The ex-president’s repost on Truth Social alleges that the Cardinals seem to “salute” Trump and “just might win it all.”

MAGA accounts link St Louis Cardinals’ celebration to attempt on Donald Trump’s life

Pro-Trump Twitter accounts are alleging that the St Louis Cardinals celebrated home runs on Sunday, July 21 with a gesture that references the potential assassination attempt against the 2024 Republican presidential candidate.

Players covered their ears with one arm and raised their other arm.

MAGA Twitter accounts claimed that the players were covering their ears because the 78-year-old former POTUS sustained an injury to his right ear and that they raised their arms because Trump raised his fist during the shooting incident.

However, St Louis Cardinals’ designated hitter Matt Carpenter clarified that the players have been using the celebration to imitate a DJ because right fielder Alex Burleson was a rapper in college who went by the name “Biscuit.”

Cardinals veteran Matt Carpenter told the inquiring press that the unique celebration was actually a call back to Alec Burleson’s college days when he was a rapper nicknamed 'Biscuit' (@CollinRugg/X)

Another Cardinals player, right fielder Lars Nootbar, made the DJ gesture after hitting a home run later in the same game.

Carpenter mentioned, “Burleson is a former college rapper” and “has been carrying us at the plate.”

Carpenter further explained that the post-home run celebration “is the furthest thing from a political statement.”

Carpenter called it “an inside joke” and emphasized that “this isn’t a political statement by any means.”

Addressing pro-Trump account Collin Rugg, St Louis talk show host Annie Frey refuted the claim that the Cardinals were recreating part of the Trump assassination attempt as a post-home run celebration.

Frey reiterated, “This isn’t a political statement. The home run hitter was formerly a DJ and they have been celebrating like this prior to the attack on Trump.”

The St Louis Cardinals are simply having fun playing baseball and are trying to celebrate home runs. They were not paying homage to him as members of the MAGA strongman’s personality cult.
