WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump found himself in hot water after he told South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that he would happily accept a plane from his country after Qatar gifted him a luxurious 747 jet.

The US President had a tense exchange with Ramaphosa on Wednesday, May 21, when he visited the Oval Office in hopes of repairing South Africa’s relationship with the Trump administration after the US president cancelled aid to the country.

In recent months, Trump has been fixated on South Africa due to allegations of indiscriminate persecution of the Afrikaners, a White ethnic group.

During the tense meeting, Donald Trump accused Cyril Ramaphosa’s government of committing White genocide, claiming thousands of white South African people are “trying to come into our country because they feel they’re gonna be killed.”

The Commander-in-Chief was showing a slew of newspaper articles about the deaths of White South African farmers, when a NBC reporter interrupted him and asked about the Pentagon formally accepting the controversial Qatari jet that was gifted to the US earlier this month.

“What are you talking about? You know, you ought to get out of here,” Trump responded, insisting that the plane was gifted to the US Air Force.

The president called the reporter an "idiot" and accused NBC of trying to distract from his allegations against South Africa. As per OK! Magazine, he then gestured to Alexander, saying, "That's what that idiot talks about after viewing a thing where thousands of people are dead."

As things started heating up, the South African leader cut in, saying, "I'm sorry I don't have a plane to give you."

"I wish you did. I would take it. If your country offered the United States Air Force a plane, I would take it,” Trump told him.

This led the president of South Africa to pivot the conversation back to the critical issues at hand regarding racial tensions in his country.

Donald Trump ridiculed for saying he would accept plane from South Africa

Donald Trump’s comments about accepting a place as a gift from South Africa were met with a backlash from internet users, who accused him of embarrassing the country.

“Embarrassing. Begging for planes like a broke dictator at a pawn shop. This is what “strong leadership” looks like?” a user asked.

Another wrote, “Only our idiotic President, takes a bribe joke as serious.”

“Is he saying that he would accept a bri… “gift”?” another said.

“Every time you think you’ve seen the most embarrassing moment possible, he tops it,” one user blasted the president.

A person commented, "Our leaders are a punchline - thanks MAGA."

“Trump doesn't understand how to behave gracefully and with tact. Trump has no clue as to how a president should behave,” one more said.

Chaos over Donald Trump accepting ‘gift’ from Qatar

Donald Trump’s decision to accept a luxurious 747 jet from the Qatar royal family has wreaked havoc among Democrats and has also turned his own MAGA faithful against him, with many calling it a "bribe."

Several ethics watchdogs and legal experts even sounded the alarm over the luxurious gift, saying it could be a blatant violation of the Constitution’s emoluments clause.

Earlier in May, Donald Trump clapped back at his MAGA loyalists and Democrats who criticized his decision to accept the $400 million gift from Qatar.

Both the White House and Qatari officials also have vigorously denied allegations that this gesture could sway Trump’s foreign policy decisions. On Wednesday, the Pentagon confirmed it had officially accepted the extravagant aircraft, now set to undergo upgrades by the US Air Force to serve as a new Air Force One.
