WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald J. Trump on Friday, April 10, delivered a high-impact endorsement in South Carolina’s 2026 Senate race, backing Senator Lindsey Graham while sharply criticizing Republican challenger Mark Lynch.

In a Truth Social post, Trump called his support for Graham “complete and total” and warned that Lynch’s candidacy would be damaging for the party, escalating the contest into a closely watched GOP primary battle.

The endorsement arrives as Graham faces a crowded Republican field ahead of the June 9 primary.

Trump’s message also linked Lynch to Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky), a frequent critic of the administration’s foreign policy, signaling that positions on national security and the Iran conflict are emerging as central issues in the race.

Lynch torched as ‘Lunatic’ over Massie ties

In his post, Trump praised Graham’s record before turning to Lynch, whom he described as a “LUNATIC.” He also highlighted Lynch’s alignment with Massie, referencing the Kentucky lawmaker’s opposition to recent military and legislative initiatives.

Lynch, a Greenville-based business executive who has invested millions of dollars into his campaign, has positioned himself as an “America First” candidate with a focus on shifting US foreign policy.

His platform includes calls to reduce overseas military involvement, a stance that contrasts with the administration’s current approach.

Lindsey Graham ‘Gets The Job Done’

Trump’s endorsement of Graham was direct and emphatic. “Lindsey Graham just, GETS THE JOB DONE,” the President wrote, urging supporters to back the incumbent senator.

Graham has played a visible role in supporting the administration’s policies, particularly in relation to the Iran conflict.

He has defended recent military actions and advocated for continued pressure on Tehran, including measures tied to dismantling nuclear capabilities.

Campaign finance filings show Graham holding a significant fundraising advantage, with more than $13 million in cash on hand. Trump’s endorsement is expected to reinforce that position as the primary approaches.

The President’s backing also addresses criticism from some conservative groups that have questioned Graham’s past positions, particularly on foreign policy.

Massie branded ‘Worst Congressman in History’

A central element of Trump’s message was his criticism of Representative Thomas Massie, whom he described as the “Worst Congressman in the History of our Country.”

The remarks follow recent disagreements between Massie and the administration over war funding and executive authority.

Massie has opposed several administration-backed measures, including legislation related to defense spending and military operations. He has also supported efforts to assert congressional oversight through War Powers mechanisms.

By highlighting Lynch’s connection to Massie, Trump extended that criticism into the South Carolina race, signaling that candidates associated with similar positions could face opposition from the administration.
