Trump's claim that Nikki Haley could join 'our team' after she supports him garners Internet's attention
DALLAS, TEXAS: On Thursday, former President Donald Trump voiced his confidence that Nikki Haley would "be part of our team in some capacity," marking his initial response to the former South Carolina Governor's announcement the day before that she would vote for him.
Trump responded to a question posed by a News 12 reporter during the Bronx rally, asking whether there is "room for her on your team, or better yet, your ticket."
“I think she’s gonna be on our team, because we have a lot of the same ideas, the same thoughts. I appreciated what she said, you know, we had a nasty campaign. It was pretty nasty, but she’s a very capable person, and I’m sure she’s going to be on our team in some form. Absolutely,” he went on to say.
Nikki Haley has announced her intention to vote for Donald Trump
Former United Nations Ambassador under Trump, Haley, announced on Wednesday, May 22, that she would cast her vote for him in November. However, she refrained from giving a full endorsement.
She encouraged Trump to connect with her supporters, who continued to vote for her in primary elections even after she withdrew from the race.
During a Q&A session after her speech at the conservative Hudson Institute in Washington, DC, Haley made several remarks, stating, "Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that they’re just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that."
On Thursday, May 23, Trump was reluctant to reveal his top three choices for vice president, although he did mention several possibilities.
“We have so many, I don’t want to do that,” Trump said, according to CNN.
“You could take people like Ben Carson, you could take people like Marco Rubio, JD Vance. I mean, there are so many. Elise’s (Stefanik) doing a fantastic job. But I could go on for quite a long time,” Trump added.
Trump has reiterated that he is likely to decide on a running mate "sometime during the convention," which commences in Milwaukee on July 15.
Internet criticizes politicians for wasting money to support Trump
As soon as the news went viral on Facebook, users started reacting to it. One wrote, "She is just another politician corrupted by Trump."
Another user added, "Things are kinda tough at the moment, especially at this time of the year so I'm gifting 5 grand to the first 10 people to message me with 'TOUGH' Let's spread love and end inhumanity."
A commentator wrote, "She will make a great housekeeper or maybe run a White House 7/11?"
"All the dumb Dems forgetting how Cackling called out Creepy Joe's racist past in their debate. Cackling claimed she was on a short yellow bus Creepy Joe was trying to stop so she couldn't integrate her school," one person remarked. [sic]
A Facebook user concluded, "She blew it by wasting donor’s money to run against Trump only to support him .. if she just waited til Trump lost she could’ve made a solid run in 2028 with her supporters but she’s a hypocrite and she too power hungry."
