Trump supporters share the 'red line' that could make them turn against him: 'Freaking disturbing'
WASHINGTON, DC: It hasn’t even been a full year since Donald Trump waltzed back into the White House with his 2024 win, but the honeymoon’s already looking shaky.
In fact, the cracks appear to be showing in the numbers.
Slipping polls and shaky support for Trump
A newly released poll by Emerson College Polling revealed that just 45 percent of respondents said they approved of how President Trump was running the country, while 46 percent disapproved. The remaining nine percent were still figuring it out.
Zooming in further, 45 percent of those polled said they felt the country was on the wrong track.
Another poll from Quinnipiac University released earlier this month delivered even rougher news. Just 38 percent of Americans gave Trump a thumbs-up for his work as president — the lowest presidential approval rating in decades.
Voters were asked to weigh in on a range of hot-button topics such as the economy, immigration, the Ukraine-Russia war, Trump’s former "first buddy" Elon Musk, and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) that he once led.

Still, none of this seemed to rattle Trump, who took to Truth Social to hype his polling stats.

Right before that, he dropped a link to a poll by InsiderAdvantage that found he had a +10 job approval rating.
Meanwhile, the broader numbers weren’t exactly gloat-worthy. Just 38 percent of people approved of Trump’s stance on trade. Immigration — typically one of his stronger areas — also slipped, with only 43 percent approving of how he’s handled it so far.
When it came to the ongoing war in Ukraine, Trump’s approval was even lower at 34 percent.
Donald Trump supporters asked what would make them stop supporting him
With all these figures floating around, some Trump supporters turned to Reddit and drew a few boundaries.
One person on the platform started the conversation with a simple but loaded question, "Trump supporters: what is a red line that, if crossed, would make you stop supporting Trump?"
Another user responded by saying they posed that very question to their father, who they described as “a big Trump supporter.”
His dad’s red line was cuts to Medicaid and Social Security. If they "go through, he will lose his faith in Trump," the user wrote.
Someone else tried the same question on their Trump-supporting parents. "I asked them this question, and the answer probably wouldn't surprise anyone: Their redline is socialist/liberal policy and/or practice. Nationalized healthcare. Wealth tax. Supporting unions. Federal regulation in general, but especially federal regulation of media," they wrote.
"Supporting equal rights policies. Supporting voter protections and vote-by-mail. Immigration that is inclusive rather than exclusive. Etc. To my folks, liberalism is a disease, an evil that needs to be wiped out of the country by any and all means necessary," they added.
One fellow Redditor responded by calling it "freaking disturbing," as quoted by Unilad.
Former Trump supporters share what finally broke their loyalty
For some others, that line was already crossed long ago.
"I used to be a Trump supporter and voted for him in 2020. January 6th was my red line," another user admitted.
They added, "He and his supporters showed contempt for democracy that day. Since then, I’ve deconstructed much of my religion and politics have come with it - I now consider myself a moderate Democrat."
Another Redditor shared a more recent reason for jumping off the Trump train.
"I already know some republicans that support Ukraine and totally flipped on Trump today after that disgraceful meeting with [Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky]," they wrote, referring to the messy encounter between Trump and the Ukrainian president back in February.
