WASHINGTON, DC: In an unexpected and sudden development in the US-Iran episode, President Donald Trump announced on Thursday, June 11, that he was canceling the planned strikes against Tehran, suggesting a breakthrough in the peace proposal.

The development came hours after Trump promised that the US would hit Iran very hard on Thursday night.

Trump says all parties back the Iran agreement

President Donald Trump said that negotiations have advanced to the highest levels of Iran’s leadership and that key terms have been approved by multiple regional stakeholders.

As Trump informed about the cancellation of scheduled bombings, he asserted that “final points (of the Iran deal) have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved.”

“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening,” Trump wrote in his Truth Social post on Thursday afternoon.

He further stated that all the involved parties have approved the terms and conditions of the Iran deal, leading to a change in his plans.

“Discussions and final points have been, in both concept and great detail, approved by all parties involved, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others,” he wrote.

However, Trump, in his post, denied any possibility of lifting the Navy blockade, stating that it will be in place until the deal is finalized.

Trump threatened Iran with escalated military action

Trump, on Thursday morning, announced a powerful and bigger bombing on Iran in continuation of the strikes that occurred after Trump, on Tuesday, confirmed that a US Army helicopter was shot down by Iran near the Strait of Hormuz.

“Yeah, there will be more bombing tonight,” Trump told Fox News in a phone interview. “The bombs will be bigger, more powerful,” he added.

The remarks came hours after Trump warned on Truth Social that Iran would be hit “VERY HARD TONIGHT” amid continuing hostilities and stalled diplomatic efforts.

In the same social media post, Trump said that the United States would eventually take control of Kharg Island, a small island in the Persian Gulf that serves as Iran’s primary crude oil export terminal.

“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets,” Trump wrote.
