Trump under fire for claiming Obama, Hillary and Biden officials created Epstein files: ‘Dumbest take’

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump sparked outrage Saturday afternoon, July 12, as he bizarrely claimed the Jeffrey Epstein files were essentially opposition research crafted by his old enemies.

Trump attempted to shield Attorney General Pam Bondi from growing backlash after the Department of Justice officially shut the lid on the Jeffrey Epstein saga. They concluded that there was no cover-up, no mysterious client list. Just a very long and uneventful prison surveillance video and an official stamp of "suicide" on Epstein's death.

Of course, that didn’t sit well with some of Trump’s most diehard supporters.

DOJ finds no foul play, no client list

The DOJ recently wrapped up its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 death at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, where he was awaiting trial. They dropped a 10-hour-long prison surveillance video leading up to Epstein’s demise.

What's more? The department also squashed claims of a much-whispered-about “client list." According to their memo, there’s “no credible evidence” that such a list even exists, let alone that Epstein was blackmailing “prominent individuals” who visited his private island.

The official stance left some jaws on the floor. Even some of Trump’s longtime allies were rattled, including tech mogul Elon Musk and right-wing activist Laura Loomer.

Part of the backlash stemmed from Bondi herself. She had previously hinted that she had the Epstein documents on her desk waiting for review, which many took to mean the infamous client list. She later clarified that she meant the Epstein files generally, not that list in particular.

Donald Trump defends Pam Bondi as he blames Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton

MAGA was understandably left fuming, but Trump rushed to defend his favorite Attorney General.

“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’” Trump posted on Truth Social. “They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening.” He continued, “We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and ‘selfish people’ are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein. For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again.”

But then Trump appeared to put on his tin foil hat, claiming the files were essentially opposition research crafted by old enemies.

“Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration, who conned the World with the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, 51 'Intelligence' Agents, 'THE LAPTOP FROM HELL,' and more?” he wrote. “They created the Epstein Files, just like they created the FAKE Hillary Clinton/Christopher Steele Dossier that they used on me, and now my so-called 'friends' are playing right into their hands.”

Donald Trump sparks outrage on social media

Many in Donald Trump’s base were furious at what they saw as a total betrayal of the anti-deep-state crusade he built his campaign around.

"I agree that no one cares about Jeffrey Epstein, but it’s not about him. It’s about the victims," one posted on X.

"This pisses me off. This isn’t about Epstein! It’s about the deep state and justice! Why is Trump acting like his base is acting ridiculous for wanting something that HE himself campaigned on?!?!! I pray that someone who he will listen to will help him understand that this is Bull S**t!" another fumed.

"'Obama and Hillary wrote the Epstein files' is the dumbest take imaginable lol," someone else added.

"Sorry, President Trump. That’s one of the most delusional things you’ve said since taking office again, if not the most. HARD disagree," read a comment.

"The families of those women that’s lived were destroyed are owed justice. It’s not Epstein, it’s all the scumbags that participated in what happened on that island. Epstein is gone but the rest of them need to be brought to justice," another offered.

Also, there were inside reports that FBI Director Kash Patel and his second-in-command, Dan Bongino, were allegedly considering resigning if Bondi stayed in place. But Patel quickly shut down the rumor mill.

“The conspiracy theories just aren’t true, never have been,” he wrote on X. “It’s an honor to serve the President of the United States @realDonaldTrump — and I’ll continue to do so for as long as he calls on me.”
