Trump warns of World War III and complains about 'incompetent' leaders during Netanyahu's Mar-a-Lago visit

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump claimed the conflicts in the Middle East had the potential to escalate into World War III, during his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on July 26.

Trump hosted Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, which according to Fox News, marks the first in-person meeting between the two leaders since the former president lost the general election in 2020. Netanyahu arrived in the United States to address the joint session of the Congress on July 24, following which he met with President Joe Biden and the presumptive Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, in Washington.

As Kamala Harris officially entered the presidential race on July 21, Trump took the opportunity to slam his political rival saying that she would be "worse" on the Middle East issues as the commander-in-chief and Israel's war on Gaza could balloon into a wider conflict in that scenario.

"We'll see how it goes. But if it all works out, if we win, it'll be very simple. It's all going to work out. And very quickly," he told reporters. "If we don't, you're going to end up with major wars in the Middle East. And maybe a third World War. You are closer to a third World War right now than at any time since the Second World War. We've never been so close because we have incompetent people running the country."

The remarks were made by Trump as Harris and Netanyahu reportedly got into a diplomatic clash after they met the previous day.

Harris shared that she told Netanyahu in the meeting that she "will always ensure that Israel is able to defend itself, including from Iran and Iran-backed militias such as Hamas and Hezbollah."

"I also expressed to the prime minister my serious concern about the scale of human suffering in Gaza, including the death of far too many innocent civilians. And I made clear my serious concern about the dire humanitarian situation there," she added, calling for the release of all hostages by Hamas and a swift end to the war.

The comments did not sit well with Netanyahu, who believed that the assault on Gaza should continue until Hamas is eradicated, irrespective of the hostages being released.

Internet dismisses Trump's opinion

Social media users did not buy into Trump's warnings, and called him a 'felon' and Netanyahu a 'war criminal.' Some found his warning about a third World War ridiculous. 

"Two guys who need to gain and retain power to stave off long prison sentences for ripping off their citizens and betraying their countries," wrote a user of Trump and Netanyahu.



 

"Why does the opinion of this felon even matter?" inquired another.



 

"Trump is like the work bully. 'She’s so awful' but NEVER SPEAKS a word of real policy or fact. His base loves fact-less accusations; it invigorates them!" exclaimed a third.



 

"What? Because Kamala won’t bow to a war criminal like Trump?" slammed a fourth user.



 

"Trump's been pushing WWIII threats for like 8 years now. Yawn," mocked a fifth.



 

"And a meteor might destroy the earth," quipped a sixth.
