Trump White House sends a warning to MAGA influencers over AOC's egg freezing

WASHINGTON, DC: While the White House has frequently taken aim at Democratic leaders, particularly those on the party’s socialist wing, the Trump administration is reportedly pushing back on conservative influencers this time over their attacks on AOC’s decision to freeze her eggs.

The 36-year-old Democratic congresswoman drew criticism after posting an Instagram video Saturday showing herself administering an injection as part of the egg-freezing process.

White House insiders have reportedly warned conservative supporters against attacking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) over her decision to freeze her eggs, alienating women ahead of the midterms.

“Don’t be weird about this, even though I know all of you will be,” Ocasio-Cortez told her followers, later explaining why she was sharing the personal journey: “I think it’s important for us as leaders to have these conversations, and share these processes, especially for working women across the country, and normalize them.”

“We most certainly want to encourage more women and families to have children, period,” a senior White House official told Axios on Tuesday, August 11. “That’s a diplomatic way of saying, 'Yes, the Matt Walsh messaging is not helpful.'”

“This isn’t really a winner for Republicans,” a Trump adviser added.

Katie Miller, wife of close Trump aide Stephen Miller and herself a new mother as of June, praised Ocasio-Cortez and defended her in a lengthy post.

Conservative voices call AOC's decision a 'cautionary tale'

Some prominent conservatives promptly took issue with the decision and began offering cynical takes. Conservative commentator Matt Walsh questioned the move.

Walsh said that AOC’s decision to start a family late in life baffled him, arguing that even if she gets pregnant tomorrow, it will already be a geriatric pregnancy.

“This desire to start having children late in life is completely baffling to me. I’ll have kids in their 20s by the time I turn 50. AOC apparently wants to have a toddler at that age. Totally backwards and ridiculous,” Walsh wrote in an X post.

The spokesperson of Turning Point USA also attacked AOC, describing her move as a “cautionary tale.”

“This is not female 'liberation', it’s a cautionary tale,” Andrew Kolvet wrote in an X post.

Trump has publicly championed in-vitro fertilization, while his administration has sought to position itself as supportive of Americans having more children.
