Trump’s niece labels him 'despicable' over Barron's connection to Andrew Tate
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Mary Trump has once again launched a blistering attack on her estranged uncle, President Donald Trump, this time accusing him of being a “despicable” parent over reports linking his youngest son, Barron Trump, to controversial misogynist influencer Andrew Tate.
Her remarks came during a video posted to her Mary Trump Media account, where she dissected what she described as Donald Trump’s long-standing embrace of misogynistic figures.
Mary Trump targets Donald Trump’s parenting and political alliances
In her video, Mary Trump did not mince words while discussing claims that President Trump may have been involved in the Andrew and Tristan Tate brothers’ release from Romania last February, allowing them to travel to the US. The brothers had previously been barred from leaving the country as Romanian prosecutors continued building a case against them.
Andrew Tate, 39, and his brother Tristan Tate, 37, have been accused by Romanian authorities of trafficking more than 30 women and forming an organized criminal group for sexual exploitation. Andrew Tate also faces a separate rape charge.
Both brothers deny all allegations and are additionally facing criminal charges in the United Kingdom.
Donald Trump was asked about possible US involvement at the time and said, “I know nothing about that.”
Mary Trump, however, suggested the idea was far from implausible, citing reporting from The New York Times on Andrew Tate’s cultivation of ties within conservative political circles.
“Andrew Tate spent years courting high-profile conservatives and some of Donald’s top advisers,” she said. “He made it very, very clear that he was a huge supporter of Donald Trump’s.”
She added that Tate’s massive online following may have been all it took to earn Trump’s attention. “With his massive social media following, that’s all you need for Donald Trump to do whatever he can to make sure, regardless of the horrific crimes you’ve committed, you get to be free,” she claimed.
Barron Trump’s reported admiration for Andrew Tate draws sharp rebuke
The sharpest criticism came when Mary Trump addressed reports linking Andrew Tate to Barron Trump, who is 19 years old. She described Barron as a “huge fan” of the influencer, a characterization she placed squarely at her uncle’s feet.
“Now, imagine what kind of… oh gosh, what’s the word?” she said before continuing, “Um, disgraceful, despicable parent you would need to be in order to think it’s okay for your son to listen to and admire a monster like Andrew Tate.”
According to The New York Times, Barron Trump reportedly shares a mutual friend with the Tate brothers, Justin Waller, who has referred to himself as their “third brother.” Waller has also described taking on a “big brother” role with Barron.
Waller told the outlet that Barron admired Andrew Tate and spoke with him over Zoom in 2024. During those conversations, Barron and Tate reportedly discussed a shared belief that the criminal cases against the brothers were attempts to silence them.
Tate brothers’ legal troubles and influence in the manosphere
The Tate brothers rose to prominence through a mix of online courses, including the controversial “Hustler’s University,” and an adult webcam business. Their content frequently featured extreme misogynistic rhetoric, which helped Andrew Tate amass a massive following among young men online.
Andrew Tate was previously banned from Twitter for comments suggesting women should “bear responsibility” for being sexually assaulted. He was later reinstated after Elon Musk took over the platform, now known as X.
Mary Trump used the controversy to reiterate broader criticisms of her uncle’s worldview. “It’s hardly news that Donald is a terrible misogynist,” she said, adding that “most of the women in my family were misogynists.”
She also accused Donald Trump of consistently surrounding himself with men who share those views. “Donald has continued over the years to surround himself with like-minded misogynistic people, like Jeffrey Epstein for example,” she said, repeating the claim later in her remarks.
Lawyer denies Trump involvement in Tate brothers’ case
Pushback against the speculation has come from the Tate brothers’ legal team. Their lawyer, Joseph McBride, previously referred The Daily Beast to a statement he provided to The New York Times, firmly denying any assistance from the Trump family or the US government.
“There was no olive branch and no assistance offered from the US side or the Trump family in connection with Andrew’s Romanian case,” McBride said.
Despite those denials, Mary Trump argued that Donald Trump’s political strategy has long included aligning himself with the so-called manosphere to energize a specific voter base. She claimed Trump embraced figures like Andrew Tate “to latch onto their young, predominantly white male audience.”
