'Unhappy' Katy Perry issues apology after last-minute concert cancellation: 'I am sorry'
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM: Katy Perry’s scheduled performance at the Werchter Boutique festival was abruptly canceled after a last-minute decision left fans disappointed and the singer backstage moments before showtime.
The 'Last Friday Night' singer shared that she was already preparing for the stage when she was informed of the cancellation due to the bad weather. The incident quickly drew attention online as fans reacted to the sudden news. Perry later addressed the situation with an 'I'm sorry' message and said she is 'unhappy'.
Katy Perry drops apology message for her show cancelation
Perry’s apology message came shortly after Belgium’s Royal Meteorological Institute issued an orange-level warning for “intense” storms expected from 6 pm Saturday, June 27, to 6 am Sunday, June 28.
Amid a record-breaking heatwave, authorities also reported flooded roads and several closures as severe weather conditions disrupted the region.
Perry shared in an Instagram post on Saturday, June 27, that she was “backstage at the show in the middle of hair and makeup” when she was informed that her set on the outskirts of Brussels got canceled.
She added it was due to a “government-mandated cancellation” linked to severe weather conditions in the area. Writing that "they gave me no choice." Perry noted, "I am just as unhappy as you are. Unfortunately, this is beyond my control, but the safety of all 55,000 of you always comes first and foremost."
"I am sorry I can’t change the weather, and even sorrier that all of us can’t be together tonight," Perry continued. "I was looking forward to being back after 17 years, I was even gonna wear the same outfit from that 2009 show again. I love you all, and please get home safe."

Perry’s recent concert cancellation comes as attention builds around her upcoming concert film 'Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour - Live from Paris'. The project, directed by Paul Dugdale, documents her 2025 Paris shows at the Accor Arena and captures her large-scale live performances during 'The Lifetimes Tour'.
