Air traffic control communications provided additional details about the disturbance. According to audio recordings, a crew member told ground personnel that the passenger had made multiple attempts to breach the cockpit before being restrained.
“I do not believe they ever cuffed him, but they were able to finally get control of him after multiple attempts to try to breach the cockpit,” the crew member said in the recorded exchange.
The crew member added that the passenger was eventually seated and monitored by law enforcement officers while the situation was brought under control.
The remarks have not been independently verified by investigators, and officials have yet to provide a detailed account of what occurred during the flight.
