WASHINGTON, DC: US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau is keen to resolve a matter arising from the presidential debate on Thursday, June 27: President Joe Biden's actual golf handicap.

During the CNN-hosted debate, former President Donald Trump and Biden covered various policy topics, but it was their discussion on golf that seemed to most passionately engage both candidates.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden have been battling over golf handicaps

Speaking about his fitness, Trump brought up the subject, stating that he had just "won two club championships—not even senior—two regular club championships."

"To do that, you have to be quite smart, and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way, and I do it," he continued. "He doesn’t do it. He can’t hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a golf match—he can’t hit a ball 50 yards."

Biden, responding to the comment, contended that he had reduced his golf handicap to six during his vice presidency. However, Trump, a keen golfer himself, was skeptical of this claim, as reported by Fox News.

"That’s the biggest lie—that he’s a six handicap—of all," he said.

The debate over golf handicaps became a viral sensation on social media, leading DeChambeau to propose a resolution.

"Let’s settle this whole handicap debate, I’ll host the golf match on my YouTube," he wrote on X.

Biden, who later adjusted his golf handicap to eight, mentioned during the debate that he would be open to a "driving contest," on the condition that Trump carried his own bag.

DeChambeau's proposal to address at least one of the issues mentioned in Thursday's debate follows his second major triumph at the US Open.
