Harris’ appearance at the FireAid concert followed her visit to Altadena on January 20, just hours after Donald Trump’s inauguration. There, she met with first responders and volunteers battling the Eaton Fire, which had devastated parts of Southern California.

She and Emhoff also spent time with World Central Kitchen volunteers, a relief organization founded by chef Jose Andres, which has been providing free meals to displaced residents in Pacific Palisades and Altadena.

“The volunteers who were there, some of them who lost their own homes, are there doing the work of taking care of perfect strangers,” Harris told the Los Angeles Times.

“These are folks who understand the strength and the value of community," she said.

Star-studded performances for a cause

The FireAid concerts seek to provide support and resources to the thousands of residents who lost their homes and more in the California wildfires that started on January 7.

The concert on Thursday featured an electrifying lineup of performers, including Green Day, Billie Eilish, Alanis Morissette, Anderson .Paak, and Dr Dre. Actor and comedian Billy Crystal also took the stage, sharing an emotional story about losing his home of 46 years and how humor has helped him persevere.

The night’s performances kicked off with Green Day, who later welcomed Billie Eilish on stage for a duet of their song 'Last Night on Earth'.

Alanis Morissette followed with a powerful set, and Anderson .Paak and Dr Dre closed out the evening with an energetic performance of 'California Love'.
