NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On the evening of Sunday, May 12, two Orthodox Jewish boys, ages 11 and 13, were viciously attacked by an individual riding a Citi Bike on a Brooklyn sidewalk.
The incident was captured on camera, and according to reports, police are currently investigating.
The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating an attack where a man was seen kicking and stomping on a young boy.
According to law enforcement sources cited by the New York Post, they are trying to determine if the assault was antisemitic.
Man pushes children to the ground and kicks them
Shortly before 9 PM on Sunday, several children were playing in front of a condominium on Franklin Avenue near Myrtle Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
As shown in a video obtained by Williamsburg 365 News, a stranger stopped his bicycle midway down the block, between two parked cars, and abruptly approached the children.
"Get off the sidewalk," he reportedly snarled at the young group, who were identified in the video as wearing traditional Orthodox Jewish attire.
The video shows him pushing one child to the ground, then shoving another to the sidewalk and kicking and stomping on him. According to the police narrative, the assailant "pushed" both boys.
Their heads were slightly cut on the backs. According to the police, the attacker made no antisemitic remarks during the incident.
It's uncertain if the boys are related. The aggressive cyclist was seen pedaling away before the video ended. As of Thursday, May 16, no arrests had been made.
Internet dubbed the man a 'monster'
As soon as the video went viral on platform X, (previously known as Twitter) internet started criticizing the accused man. One user demanded punishment for him writing, "Horrible! Find him and send him to jail."
Another user suggested, "He’s on a rental bike and they have the time stamp and GPS coordinates. If he rented it, they will catch him."
