SAVANNAH, GEORGIA: A video of Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris visiting a bakery in Georgia during her visit to the swing state went viral online as social media users compared it with GOP VP candidate and Ohio Sen JD Vance dropping in at a donut shop in the same state.

Harris uploaded her video on her X account on Thursday, August 29, and it was viewed over 8.6 million times by the next day.

Contrast between Kamala Harris and JD Vance's visits to confectionery stores

According to Newsweek, Kamala Harris went to Dottie's Market in Savannah, where she was accompanied by reporters and campaign officials during her trip to Georgia in the final week of August.

The viral video she shared on X shows her engaging with shop workers and buying food for local activists. The Democratic nominee seemed to be fascinated with a chocolate caramel cake on display which she got for herself and coaxed others to have some as well.

In comparison, Vance's interaction with the staff at Holt's Sweet Shop in Valdosta was labeled "awkward" by the publication. The running mate of former president and GOP nominee Donald Trump was in the region earlier the same month.

One of the staffers told the senator that she did not want to be on film, and the latter was then seen asking all staff members how long they were working in the establishment. In the case of his donut order, Vance requested "just whatever makes sense".

The awkward nature of Vance's visit also led social media users to compare it with Democratic VP candidate Gov Tim Walz's visit to a sandwich shop in Nebraska soon afterward.

Internet trolls JD Vance in wake of Kamala Harris' video

Netizens discussing the visits of Kamala Harris and JD Vance at confectionery stores ripped into the latter on the social networking platform Reddit. The following examples demonstrate their prevalent takes.

"She acts like someone who has actually visited a bakery before, you know to order some baked goods. Unlike Vance who thinks donut shops are where you go to interrogate the workers," wrote a person praising Harris.

"She was decent in a very normal way, and acted exactly like a customer in a bakery. JD is incapable of either of these things," shared another.

"How hard is it to order at a donut shop? Shady is just so painful 🤦" stated a third.

"He was born without a personality, have some empathy please," mocked a fourth.

"Watched both.. And just wow!! Even if i knew nothing about politics.. Vance's visit really seems.. Wait for it.., 'weird'.. and I swear i wasnt planning to say that.!!" exclaimed a fifth.
