Vivek Ramaswamy ridiculed as he says hush money trial is 'politicized persecution' of Donald Trump

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Vivek Ramaswamy fiercely criticized the ongoing hush money trial against Donald Trump in New York as he labeled it a "sham" orchestrated by Democrats ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

Allies of the former president including Ramaswamy, House Speaker Mike Johnson, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, and Florida Representative Cory Mills joined Trump at the Manhattan courthouse on Tuesday, May 14.

Outside the New York courthouse, Ramaswamy spoke about his "depressing" time at the court as he told the reporters, "I learned a lot from being in there in person. It is one of the most depressing places I have been in my life."

"But it is fitting because the only thing more depressing than the environment of that courtroom is what's actually happening in there. It's straight out of a Kafka novel," he continued.

"The prosecution's main strategy appears to be to bore the jurors into submission. And if you look in that direction, sadly, it may appear to actually be working," the former 2024 presidential contender added.

Calling the case a "politicized persecution," Ramaswamy said,  "The whole case that Alvin Bragg has brought depends on one premise for them to charge this as a felony, is that Donald Trump somehow should have used campaign funds to make an allegedly personal payment."

"Yet if he had done that, their case against him would be even stronger. This is garbage.… It's damned if you do, damned if you don't," he continued.

"This is a sham. This is not the United States of America. This is some third-rate banana republic," Ramaswamy said.

Mike Johnson says Donald Trump's hush money trial is disgraceful

Speaker Johnson also spoke to reporters about the trial as he said, “These are politically motivated trials and they are a disgrace."

Criticizing judicial officials and key trial witnesses including former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, the speaker said that he is "disgusted" at what he perceives as efforts to keep Trump "off the campaign trail."

As per Trump's campaign, the GOP allies volunteered to show up in court to support the former president and were not invited by the campaign, according to Fox News.

Vivek Ramaswamy's criticism of the hush money trial met with mockery

Reacting to Ramaswamy's criticism of the hush money trial, one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "Lol. Vivek is never right. And rule of law is fundamental to a functioning society. Trump is a menace and simping for him is pathetic and embarrassing"



 

"Boy can talk," a netizen commented while another user wrote, "Performance and not a good one."



 



 

One user wrote, "Vivek is never right about anything lol" and another user tweeted, "What is he going on about? None of what he said makes any sense nor resembles any modicum of truth."
