Vivek Taneja: Indian-origin Virginia tech executive dies days after being brutally beaten over argument

WASHINGTON, DC: An Indian-origin Virginia tech executive has died nearly one week after he got into a fight on a Washington, DC street. However, the suspect in this case remains at large.
Officers responded to reports of an assault on 41-year-old Dr Vivek 'Vick' Taneja or simply Vivek Taneja, and arrived at the scene to find him with critical injuries. They rushed him to a hospital, but he did not survive. Taneja’s death was ruled a 'homicide' by police.
As per news station WUSA 9, Taneja died on Wednesday, February 7, days after he was assaulted in a brawl outside a restaurant in downtown Washington.
How did Vivek Taneja die?
Vivek Taneja was found on the pavement outside Shoto Restaurant, at around 2 am on February 2 by authorities responding to a report of an assault, according to the outlet. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Taneja got into a verbal argument with a man (suspect) before the dispute turned into a physical fight where he was knocked to the ground. WUSA9 reported, while citing the preliminary investigation, that Taneja's head hit the pavement.
Taneja was the co-founder and president of Dynamo Technologies. According to the company's website, Taneja "leads Dynamo's strategic, growth, and partnership initiatives, with an emphasis on the federal government contracting arena".
Last year, a wealthy Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter were found dead in their USD 5 million mansion in the US state of Massachusetts in an apparent domestic violence incident, according to Magzter.
However, later the deaths of Rakesh Kamal, his wife Teena Kamal, and their college-going daughter Arianna Kamal were ruled murder-suicide by medical authorities after autopsy.
The press release issued by the office of Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey indicated that autopsy results issued by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Teena and her daughter Arianna were victims of homicide by gunshot.
Police continue investigation
Police are now investigating Vivek Taneja's death as a homicide. The person of interest was been captured on surveillance footage.
There is also a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, the Metropolitan Police Department said, per NY Post.
Taneja, of Alexandria, was the co-founder and president of Dynamo Technologies, an IT company that works with the federal government, according to his LinkedIn profile. He spearheaded the company’s federal government contracting.
