PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: The Mar-a-Lago New Year's Eve party was quite the spectacle, featuring rapper Vanilla Ice performing for the crowd as the first musical act of 2024 to trend on X (formerly Twitter).

The former US President Donald Trump was seen standing in the room, seemingly unenthusiased by the performances onstage.

Per a report by The Hill, the crowd was also treated to a visit from an Elvis impersonator and a character from the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', bringing back memories of the pop culture staples of the 1990s.

What did former president Donald Trump say at his New Year’s Eve party?

During his speech, former US President Donald Trump informed the audience that former First Lady Melania Trump would not be in attendance due to her presence at a Miami hospital where she is taking care of her mother.

Trump made a light-hearted quip about Mar-a-Lago members ''scalping tickets' before briefly touching on political affairs, mentioning the Iowa GOP caucuses which are scheduled to commence in three weeks.

Trump said, “We’re going to have a fantastic year. Our country has gone to hell but we’re going to turn it around, we’re going to turn it around quickly.”

This isn't the first time rapper Vanilla Ice is ringing in the New Year at Trump's Mar-a-Lago club on December 31, as the 56-year-old performed there in 2020 and 2021, according to Billboard.

Roger Stone, a conservative political consultant convicted in the Mueller investigation and pardoned by Trump in 2020, was among the guests who were invited at the party.

Per Complex, Vanilla Ice stood by his appearance at Trump's New Year's Eve party in a press statement, where he claimed that him being there wasn't "about politics at all."

The rapper of 'Ice Ice Baby' fame stated, “The New Year’s Eve celebration at Mar-a-Lago was awesome. We danced we celebrated. We had a great time. It was a very classy event at a beautiful Palm Beach landmark. Everyone was cleared from Covid test prior to the event. I think everyone just wants to get out and dance and have fun. We’ve all been marinating, trapped in our houses. It’s not about politics at all. This is about dancing and enjoying New Year’s. And I wish everyone a very happy new year.”

Internet trolled Trump for appearing disinterested at his New Year's Eve party

People on X ridiculed Trump for staring off at the distance while rapper Vanilla Ice played onstage.

One X user remarked: "Haha Trump wants to go to bed so bad."

Another user wrote: "That is just pitiful, Can't wait to hear his exaggerated numbers on this little get-together.."

Another user said: "he’s mad because he never gets A-list talent. It’s always the D and worse"

One user quipped: "Of course he's miserable. He's listening to Vanilla Ice."

Another X user wrote: "Nobody looks like they're having fun there. They all look like they're just going through the motions. Cringe level has never been higher."

Finally, this user tweeted: "Vanilla Ice is such a ridiculously crappy musician. The dude has one song. A perfect Maralago Maga Mascot"
