OREM, UTAH: A horrifying new video shows a sniper perched on the roof of the Losee Center at Utah Valley University, following the assassination of Charlie Kirk during a Turning Point USA event on Wednesday, September 10.

The 31-year-old was shot in the neck and tragically died after being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. A suspect, who is not the shooter, was taken into custody, a spokeswoman for Utah Valley University, Ellen Treanor, revealed.

Sniper shot from building about 200 yards away from Charlie Kirk's stage

Ellen Treanor told reporters that Charlie Kirk was struck after the suspect fired from the Losee Center, a building about 200 yards away from the stage where Kirk was speaking.

Following the assassination, a video surfaced online showing someone on the roof of the Losee Center at Utah Valley University just minutes before Kirk was shot. He had been addressing the opening of his “America Comeback Tour” at UVU.

The 31-year-old was critically injured and rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, President Donald Trump provided an update shortly afterward, confirming that Kirk had succumbed to his injuries.

A graphic video of the assassination also spread on social media, showing the moment Kirk was shot in the neck.

In the footage, blood can be seen spilling from Kirk’s neck as he collapses from his chair with his eyes closed. Meanwhile, authorities remain on the hunt for the suspect in Kirk’s shooting death after initially announcing that someone was in custody.

FBI Director Kash Patel later clarified that the individual had been released after interrogation, while Utah Governor Spencer Cox condemned the incident as a “political assassination.”

In the latest update, the FBI Director confirmed they are also consulting with foreign intelligence agencies.

Charlie Kirk was co-founder of conservative youth organization Turning Point USA

Charlie Kirk was the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA.

The organization also confirmed the incident. Aubrey Laitsch, public relations manager for Turning Point USA, said, "We are confirming that he was shot and we are praying for Charlie."

Following his assassination, the American flags on the White House roof and the north and south lawns were lowered to half-staff in Kirk’s honor, as ordered by the president.

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social and wrote, "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"

Vice President JD Vance penned a statement on X, writing, "Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father."

The shooting also drew outrage across the political spectrum as Democrats and Republicans shared their concerns and prayers.

Fellow conservative Nick Fuentes added, "This feels like a nightmare. One of the most horrific things I’ve ever seen. I feel absolutely gutted and devastated. Pray for Charlie Kirk’s soul, his young family and for our country. The violence and hatred has to stop. Our country needs Christ now more than ever."
