EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN: Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris stepped in to discourage her supporters from excessively criticizing Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Wisconsin on Wednesday, August 7.

On the second day of her battleground blitz with running mate Tim Walz, as she reached the part of her familiar stump speech about prosecuting predators, fraudsters, and scammers, supporters, much like those in Philadelphia on Tuesday, August 6, began chanting “lock him up.” At that moment, Harris deviated from her script

“Well, hold on,” Kamala Harris extended her hand as if to calm the crowd in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. “You know what, the courts are going to handle that part of it. What we’re gonna do is beat him in November.”

“We’re going to beat him in November, we’ll beat him in November, we’ll handle that,” she added. Her laughter echoed, and the crowd erupted in cheers.

The situation reflected a growing trend that could potentially tarnish the Vice President's image.

By Wednesday, the chant "lock him up" had regularly erupted at Harris' campaign events, echoing the "lock her up" chants directed at Hillary Clinton by attendees of Trump's MAGA rallies, Daily Beast reported.

Calls to imprison the 2016 Democratic nominee emerged because of her use of a private email for official State Department communications, which the FBI deemed careless.

Trump denied ever saying "lock her up," although media investigations have contradicted his claim.

Unlike Clinton, the former president has been convicted of a felony. His sentencing is set for September 18 on charges related to concealing hush money payments.

He could face a maximum of four years in prison, though many experts consider a lighter sentence more likely. His involvement in election interference and the retention of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago is still under judicial review.
