ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND: Maryland Governor Wes Moore recently renewed his support for President Joe Biden's reelection campaign, sparking a wave of controversy and backlash across social media.

Despite Biden's underwhelming debate performance earlier this week against Donald Trump, Moore expressed optimism about the future of Maryland under a second Biden term, as reported by The Hill.

Wes Moore says he is 'excited' for Maryland under Joe Biden's potential second term

In an interview with NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo on Friday evening, June 28, Moore said, "Not only do I know that he will be able to serve another four years... I’m excited about what we can actually get done as a state if I have a chance to continue partnering with the president for the next four years."

Governor Moore highlighted several achievements since taking office, such as reduced unemployment and homicide rates, attributing part of this success to the Biden administration's support.

"Now the homicide rate in Baltimore — the last time it was this low, I was not born yet. The reason I bring that up is we’re doing it in partnership with President Biden and the Biden-Harris administration," Moore noted during his interview with Cuomo.

Following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Biden visited the city, pledging to "move heaven and earth" to rebuild the bridge and critical port infrastructure. He urged Congress to approve a 100-percent cost share to cover the state’s expenses.

Despite acknowledging Biden's lackluster debate performance, Moore insisted that Americans should focus on Biden's accomplishments as president in comparison to Trump’s tenure

"He didn’t have a great night and I think that anyone who would argue that he did is not telling you the truth. Really what’s contrasted is the fact that Donald Trump did not have a great presidency," Moore admitted, as concerns rise within the Democratic Party.

When asked if he would consider serving as a replacement candidate if Biden decided to step down, Moore dodged the question and dismissed the notion of an open Democratic field leading up to the Democratic National Convention.

"The president’s not going to step away. And I encourage him to not even consider it," Moore stated firmly.

Wes Moore's endorsement of Joe Biden sparks swift backlash online

The online reaction to Wes Moore’s endorsement of Joe Biden was swift and severe. One Facebook user said, "Excited for higher crime rates." While another remarked, "Biden is a complete failure, which is the story of his life." One user wrote, "Democrats delusional as usual."

Another user posted, "The sycophants who value their career over our country are exposing themselves." One user commented, "The DNC better replace Biden or our nation will burn for a generation." Another user mentioned, "He means it’s easy to fleece an old white man with dementia."

Someone else stated, "It's just going to hurt worse the longer we pretend Joe's OK. 25th Amendment." Another individual said, "If Democrats cared about America the 25th Amendment would have been invoked yesterday morning."
