‘We've been de-balled as a nation’: Whoopi Goldberg accuses Trump of ignoring ‘no more war’ pleas
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Whoopi Goldberg sparked a heated discussion on Wednesday, May 13, after saying America has been “de-balled” while criticizing President Donald Trump’s comments about the Iran war and growing concerns surrounding his administration.
The remarks came during a tense segment on 'The View' as the co-hosts reacted to Trump saying he was not thinking about Americans’ financial struggles while discussing negotiations tied to Iran.

Trump’s Iran comments spark clash on ‘The View’
The conversation began after the panel revisited Trump’s now widely discussed comments regarding Iran and the ongoing costs tied to the conflict.
When asked whether he considered Americans’ financial situations during negotiations surrounding the costly Iran war, Trump gave a blunt response.
“Not even a little bit,” Trump said. “The only thing that matters when I’m talking about Iran, they can’t have a nuclear weapon. I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody. I think about one thing. We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That’s all.”

The statement quickly became the center of discussion on ‘The View,’ with the co-hosts arguing that many Americans were already frustrated by both the economic burden of the conflict and what they viewed as a betrayal of Trump’s earlier promises about avoiding more wars.
Whoopi Goldberg strongly criticized the president during the segment.
“He didn’t care about his own supporters’ pleas for no more wars when he went into Iran, and now he doesn’t care that Americans can’t afford to feed their families,” she said.
Whoopi Goldberg says America has been ‘de-balled’
As the discussion continued, the panel shifted toward concerns about leadership inside Trump’s administration. The hosts referenced recent reporting from The Atlantic involving FBI Director Kash Patel.
According to the report, anonymous sources claimed Patel had experienced an “emotional outburst” while struggling to log into a computer system and had also faced concerns tied to “bouts of excessive drinking” and repeated absences.
The conversation appeared to deepen Goldberg’s frustration about the state of leadership in Washington.
“I have no faith in the people running anything. I don’t believe in anybody running this country right now and that’s what makes me nervous,” Goldberg said.
She also raised concerns about uncertainty surrounding public health leadership and government agencies.
“OK, well, who is going to take responsibility, you know, the CDC, right now? No one is running the CDC. We have this potential virus, and they keep saying, ‘No, there’s nothing to worry about.’ I don’t want to hear that from you because you don’t know if there’s nothing to worry about,” she added.
That was when Goldberg delivered the comment that immediately stood out during the broadcast. “We have been de-balled as a nation, I feel,” she said.
Alyssa Farah Griffin pushes back on Whoopi Goldberg remarks
Goldberg’s wording instantly caught the attention of the other co-hosts at the table, who questioned whether she meant to say “castrated.” But Goldberg doubled down while trying to explain what she meant.
“It’s the same thing. I don’t have them, but I know it’s the same thing,” Goldberg joked. “But the idea that no one is in charge freaks me out.” Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin responded with a lighter but still pointed disagreement.
“I think America still has its basketballs,” Griffin replied. “I just think we have some very struggling leaders right now.” Even with the back-and-forth humor, Goldberg maintained that America’s image globally had become weaker and less respected.
“The sentiment around the world,” Goldberg argued, “is that they just don’t believe anything we’re doing because nothing we do seems to have any weight.”
By the end of the segment, Goldberg summed up her frustrations with one final assessment of America’s standing under the current political climate.
“Deeply unserious, de-balled,” Goldberg said. “Whatever it is, it’s not what America should be seeing and how we should be seeing it.”
