NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former United States Senator and MSNBC analyst Claire McCaskill made an appearance on ‘Morning Joe’ with host Joe Scarborough, where she shared her thoughts on the Colorado Supreme Court’s recent ruling to disqualify Donald Trump from the state ballot.

McCaskill offered her perspective on the earlier mentioned disqualification of the former President from the Colorado ballot, stating, “I don't like anything that helps Trump, but I think Colorado really helps Trump.”

Subsequently, people on X, formerly referred to as Twitter, have shared their opinions on the 'Morning Joe' segment on MSNBC, with a specific focus on McCaskill's remarks.

Claire McCaskill weighs in on Colorado ballot

During 'Morning Joe,' after Joe Scarborough greeted MSNBC analyst and former Senator Claire McCaskill, he remarked, “We had a discussion last hour just about the Colorado decision. Of course, there is understandable concern about a court stepping in and possibly the Supreme Court stepping in and keeping Donald Trump off of a ballot in Colorado and possibly other states.”

“I wanted to show you this poll, finding 54% of Americans actually approve of the Colorado Supreme Court's decision to kick Donald Trump off the 2024 primary ballot,” said Scarborough as the recent poll flashed on the screen, which was previously discussed on ‘Morning Joe.’

During the brief discussion between Scarborough and McCaskill about the poll, McCaskill offered her perspective on the decision, noting that she was wearing "two hats."

“Now, there's two hats here I wear. One is a lawyer, and one is somebody who has run for office and cares deeply about the election next year. The lawyer says this is pretty obvious, especially to a Supreme Court who is so fixated on textualism and originalism,” said McCaskill.

She continued, “If you put it in context of when it was written and what it was written about, this is a tough one for the Supreme Court to abandon the two pillars that they claim to be making all their decisions around."

"As a lawyer, I get this. I think there is a real, strong case for the Supreme Court to agree with Colorado. As somebody who is a politician, I think it is a really bad decision,” McCaskill added.

She then elaborated on the “bad decision” and said, “I think it really helps Donald Trump. I don't like anything that helps Donald Trump. I find myself in the weird position of agreeing with Bill Barr in terms of it helping him.”

“I think it does help him. And so, you know, in a perfect world, if I could write the script, the Supreme Court would put him back on the ballot, and then he would be defeated soundly. That's my….that's what I want in my Christmas stocking this year,” added McCaskill.

Internet reacts to Claire McCaskill’s take on Colorado ruling

Following Claire McCaskill's commentary on Donald Trump's disqualification from the Colorado ballot, the internet swiftly reacted.

“She's not a very good lawyer if she believes this,” wrote one user, and another wrote, “Then again, you are pretty much always wrong.”

One user wrote, “It’s absolutely the opposite of what she says,” and another wrote, “That makes no sense at all.”

People continued to disagree with McCaskill as she faced backlash on X, formerly known as Twitter. One user wrote, “As a lawyer, you stink,” and another wrote, “Like she's the voice of reason. What a joke.”
