LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hillary Clinton recently took aim at Tucker Carlson following the latter's announcement of an upcoming interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The former Fox News host gave his reasonings regarding conducting such an interview and noted that it was his journalistic duty to inform people, especially the Americans who have "no real idea" of what is happening in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Carlson is also the first person from the Western media who has been granted an interview by the Russian president since the conflict began in 2022.

Hillary Clinton claims Russian media makes fun of Tucker Carlson

According to Mediaite, Carlson, known for his critical stance on US aid to Ukraine and controversial views on the conflict, has faced scrutiny for his portrayal of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the dissemination of conspiracy theories regarding Ukraine's alleged production of bioweapons against Russia.

During an MSNBC interview, Clinton responded to the news of Carlson interviewing Putin, stating, "Well, it shows me what I think we’ve all known. He’s what is called a useful idiot."

She accused the journalist of being gullible, suggesting that Russian media mocks him and views him as someone who can be easily manipulated.

Clinton further criticized Carlson for spreading misinformation aligned with Putin's narrative about Ukraine, calling him out for his inability to align his reporting with the truth.

She chided the former Fox News host could potentially secure a contract with a Russian media outlet "after having been fired from so many outlets and the United States."

Further expressing her concern, Clinton highlighted, "It’s really quite sad that not just somebody like Tucker Carlson who has, as I said, been fired so many times because he seems unable to correlate his reporting with the truth, but also because it is a sign that there are people in this country right now who are like a fifth column from Vladimir Putin."

The former secretary of state went on to state, "There is a yearning for leaders who can kill and imprison their opponents, destroy the press, lead a life that is one of impunity and bound by any laws."

She added, "There’s a yearning among certain people in our country for that kind of leadership. And I find that absolutely gobsmacking terrifying."
