WASHINGTON, DC: A lighthearted moment at the White House Easter Egg Roll drew smiles as a child repeatedly asked about First Lady Melania Trump while she stood beside President Donald Trump.

The president responded with a playful remark, describing his wife as a “movie star,” adding a touch of humor to the festive gathering on Monday, April 6.

The exchange took place as families gathered on the South Lawn for the annual event, where the Trumps greeted children and participated in traditional Easter activities. The moment quickly stood out as one of the more memorable interactions of the day.

Child’s question sparks moment

During the interaction, a child could be heard asking, “Who is that? Who is that? Who is that?” as Melania Trump stood nearby. Responding casually, Melania said, “What? I don’t know,” before President Donald Trump stepped in with a playful reply.

“She’s a movie star. She came here from Hollywood,” Trump said, addressing the child and those around them. He then reiterated the comment to a larger group, saying, “You know who she is? She’s a movie star who came here from Hollywood.”

As the program continued, Trump introduced his wife to the audience with humor, saying, “Our great first lady who is here some place, I think this is our first lady.” He then added, “What do you think of our first lady? She’s a movie star. I don’t know, do we call her first lady or movie star?”

The Easter Egg Roll, a long-standing White House tradition, brought together families for games, storytelling and music. The event blended festive cheer with moments of levity, including the president’s remarks, which drew laughter from attendees.

Remarks extend to global issues

Earlier in the day, Trump also addressed broader topics, including ongoing tensions involving Iran. Speaking about efforts related to conflict zones, both the president and first lady emphasized concern for families affected by war.

We're fighting for children that are now in a war zone. We're keeping them as safe as we can possibly keep them. But we're fighting for their parents, their grandparents. We're fighting for them. We're fighting for their future."

The combination of policy remarks and personal moments underscored the tone of the day, as the White House event balanced celebration with reflections on global challenges.
