LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent episode of 'The View', Whoopi Goldberg openly expressed her frustration with JD Vance’s remarks about Taylor Swift.

Vance, who is a vice presidential candidate, had disparaged Swift as a “billionaire celebrity” who is “disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans.”

This remark came in response to Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris following the recent debate against Donald Trump.

Whoopi Goldberg slams JD Vance’s criticism of Taylor Swift

Whoopi Goldberg responded quickly and bluntly. On Thursday's show, she directly criticized Vance's remarks, saying, “You don’t know what affects her, you don't know about her money. Shut up, JD.”

As she was about to transition to a commercial break, Goldberg quickly reconsidered her words and apologized, saying, “I’m sorry, that was very rude. Stop talking, JD.”

Goldberg later clarified her choice of words, saying, “I prefer that phrase over ‘shut up’ and apologized because, ‘I hate when people tell me, pundits tell me, to shut up. It’s not a nice thing to say.’” She continued, “I do take it back, but the implication is—hush.”

The reaction from the right has been mixed. Critics, including Trump, have expressed their displeasure with Swift’s endorsement.

Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris spurs backlash but mobilizes support

Following her endorsement of Kamala Harris, some commentators labeled Taylor Swift’s supporters as “stupid,” while others, like Megyn Kelly, launched personal attacks on Swift, calling her a “snob” and an “imbecile.”

Despite the backlash, Swift’s endorsement of Harris has already mobilized hundreds of thousands of potential supporters through Vote.org.

Trump has speculated that Swift’s endorsement could have financial repercussions for her, suggesting she might face a “price in the marketplace.”

However, based on her previous endorsement of President Joe Biden in 2020, there is no concrete evidence supporting such a claim. Vance, while expressing admiration for Swift’s music, chose to criticize her for being out of touch.

Goldberg’s intervention, while aimed at silencing Vance, could ironically boost Harris’ position by energizing Swift’s fanbase. As Harris’ campaign harnesses this momentum, Swift’s celebrity influence might sway undecided voters in a closely contested race.

As Joy Behar noted during the discussion, “We have one of the biggest stars in the world on the Democratic side, and they have Chachi.”
