WASHINGTON, DC: Social media erupted with speculation about President Donald Trump’s health late Friday, August 29, as the hashtag #WhereIsTrump surged to the top of X (formerly Twitter).

The frenzy began after users noticed the president had not appeared publicly for two days, leading some to suggest something unusual was being hidden.

Bizarre ‘Trump body double’ theory trends online after health rumors

Conspiracy chatter escalated further when Donald Trump’s official weekend schedule surfaced online with no mention of public events.

Some users also pointed to the White House livestream going offline and even cited a so-called “Pentagon Pizza Index,” which tracks unusual pizza deliveries near the Pentagon, claiming it hinted at government-level secrecy.

By Saturday morning, August 30, the president was photographed leaving for a golf outing in Virginia with granddaughter Kai. Trump appeared relaxed and in good spirits, seemingly putting to rest questions about his health. But instead of silencing the rumors, the photos only gave rise to a new theory that the man seen on the course wasn’t Trump at all, but a body double.

On X, one user shared close-up screenshots of Trump’s right hand from the golf outing, writing: “Here is a screenshot of Trump’s right hand from these videos! No bruising or make-up. Either an old video or a body double.”

One posted, “We just had a sighting of a Trump body double at his golf course. Barely looks like him!”

Another skeptic added, “It’s a body double. Doesn’t even look like Trump.”

One wrote, “This is not trump…. The NOSE AND CHIN is not the same. NOT even close.”

Others piled on, “Ear looks different. Jaw shape is different. Nose shape is different. This is not Donald Trump. This is a double. #DonaldTrump.”

One critic went further, lamenting, “That's not him. Doesn't even look anything like him. You'd think they could get better body doubles for the president.”

One penned, “This isn't Trump. It's a body double. Face is to fat and the ear is different.”

Bruise on hand at center of speculation

The rumors stemmed partly from Trump’s appearance earlier in the week, when photographs showed a bruise on his right hand. In some instances, makeup appeared to have been applied to conceal it, sparking theories about hidden medical issues.

A bruise is visible on the back of U.S. President Donald Trump's right hand during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung in the Oval Office at the White House on August 25, 2025 in Washington, DC. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about the bruising in February and she responded,

Trump’s physician, Dr Sean Barbabella, dismissed those claims in a statement, explaining that the bruise was “consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.”

He further emphasized that the president remains in “excellent cognitive and physical health.”

Despite the medical reassurance and Trump’s public outing, online chatter shows no signs of slowing. For some, the absence of clear public appearances earlier in the week has only deepened suspicions. With the #WhereIsTrump hashtag still trending, the president’s health and now the bizarre idea of a body double are likely to remain a flashpoint in online discourse.
