Nancy Pelosi shredded for claiming pro-Palestine protests are funded by Russia, calls for FBI probe
WASHINGTON, DC: Nancy Pelosi has angered a section of the internet after calling for an FBI investigation into pro-Palestine protesters while claiming that they are receiving financial help from Russia.
During an appearance on CNN’s ‘State of the Union’ on Sunday, January 28, the former House Speaker was asked by co-host Dana Bash about her opinion on the multiple pro-Palestine protests that are taking place amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
Nancy Pelosi opined that the pro-Palestinian protests are funded by Russia
The US Representative Nancy Pelosi opined during Sunday’s ‘State of the Union’ that she feels some of the protests are connected with Russia.
Pelosi opined, “Some are connected to Russia, and I say that having looked at this for a long time,” per Daily Mail.
Saying she has faced several protests herself, the D-CA representative opined that “we have to think about what we're doing.”
Pelosi continued, “And what we have to do is try to stop the suffering in Gaza. This is women and children, people who don't have a place to go- so let's address that.”
“But for them to call for a ceasefire is Mr. Putin's message. Mr. Putin's message - make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he would like to see,” the two-time House Speaker added.
Even though she did not provide any evidence to back up her claim, Pelosi continued to shade Putin for backing some of the protesters.
She, nevertheless, admitted that some of the protesters are “sincere,” while others are backed by Russia.
She said, “Same thing with Ukraine. It's about Putin's message. I think some of these protesters are spontaneous and organic and sincere.”
She further said to Bash that she thinks an investigation into the financing needs to be conducted while adding, “I think some financing should be investigated, and I want to ask the FBI to investigate that.”
Massive protests broke out in front of the White House
Recently, on January 13, a massive protest broke out in front of the White House for which many staff members had to be relocated as the protesters tried to breach the security fence.
The protesters carried Palestinian flags along with signs reading, “No votes for Genocide Joe,” “Biden has blood on his hands” and “Let Gaza live.”
Per New York Post, the Pro-Palestine supporters screamed, “F**k Joe Biden!” as they tried climbing the outer fence.
The Pro-Palestinian protesters further chanted, “Break it down! You support the murder of children!”
The intensity of the protests increased following Joe Biden’s greenlighting of “emergency sales” of $106 million worth of ammunition to Israel to aid in their retaliatory mission against Hamas.
The Secret Service erected the anti-scale fencing hours before the protest anticipating the demonstration in front of the White House, which was planned as the concluding event of a march through Washington DC calling for the end to Israeli military action in Gaza.
The Post further reported that the anti-scale fence received “temporary damage,” but the “issues were promptly repaired.” No arrests were, however, made.
Internet slams Nancy Pelosi for her claims
One of the social media users said, "Here we go again: blame it on Russia. Does anyone notice how quiet Russia is and doesn’t play into these games? Seems to me like they’re maybe more innocent than we realize."
