NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kathy Griffin's public endorsement of Stormy Daniels in the high-profile hush money trial against former President Donald Trump backfired spectacularly, sparking a torrent of online mockery and condemnation.

The left-wing comedian's claim that Daniels "does not and will not lie" and urging the public to "believe her" drew widespread criticism from social media users, reigniting her long-standing feud with Trump and his supporters, as per Breitbart.

The controversy unfolded on May 7, when Griffin responded to a post by lawyer and Los Angeles Times columnist Harry Litman, who speculated that Daniels might accuse Trump of assault during her testimony.

Litman's initial tweet read, "If it is Stormy, her testimony will sorely test Trump's ability to comply w/ gag order. Can't be a more direct accusation of a longstanding lie, made more or less to his face from 30′ away." He further added, "Plus there are indications that she will say that the tryst had an element of assault."

"Stormy does not and will not lie. Believe her," Griffin wrote in her response. The exchange reignited Griffin's long-standing feud with the former president and his supporters.

In 2017, Griffin sparked outrage by posing with a prop depicting Trump's severed head, leading to widespread condemnation and a significant career setback.

Last year, Griffin revealed that she had developed an extreme case of complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to the backlash she faced, admitting to engaging in unusual coping mechanisms like meowing and mooing during yoga sessions.

Meanwhile, as Daniels took the stand, Trump cited his critics' own words to emphasize the lack of tangible evidence directly linking him to any wrongdoing. "NBC Today Show [said], 'The challenge is that there is no smoking gun, no email, or tape to prove the president's intent,'" Trump said to media outlets outside the Manhattan courtroom.

He explained the central point of the case, stating, "That's what they're trying to get us on: the fact that we call a legal expense a legal expense. The legal expense that we paid was put down as a legal expense. There's nothing else you could say."

Another suggested, "She’s only trying to get media coverage because no one will buy a ticket to her shows."

A third commenter advised, "Go crawl back under the rock from which you came," while a fourth dismissed Griffin as "Miss Irrelevant opens her mouth." A fifth user expressed concern, writing, "Somebody call the authorities, Kathy’s off her meds again!"
