NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: George Santos, a former US representative who was expelled from office, recently stirred up controversy on platform X (formerly Twitter) when he faced criticism from social media users for calling out Republicans who lost his House seat in a special election.

Santos has been consistently in the spotlight, most notably when he attracted ridicule on the internet after expressing interest in becoming Donald Trump's director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) if the former president were to be re-elected in 2024.

Additionally, Santos found himself the target of mockery once again after talk show host Jimmy Kimmel took aim at the former congressman for attending a Trump MAGA event.

George Santos expresses frustration after Republicans lose the seat he left

According to the Daily Mail, Santos took to platform X to criticize Republicans for losing the seat that was left empty when he was expelled from Congress.

Santos' reaction came after Tom Suozzi, a Long Island Democrat, emerged victorious in a closely-watched race to fill the seat of expelled Santos in New York's 3rd Congressional District. Suozzi defeated Republican candidate Mazi Pilip, who conceded the race on Tuesday night after the Associated Press announced Suozzi's victory with 52% of the votes counted in Queens and Long Island.

During the vote-counting process, Santos vented his frustration through a series of tweets, as per the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail further reported that Santos tweeted, "-1," indicating his disappointment as it became apparent that Democrats would gain another seat in the House.

Additionally, Santos aimed at Congressmen Anthony D'Esposito and Nick LaLota, who had campaigned to rally support for Pilip. In another tweet, Santos wrote, "Hey Americans! Please thank these two gems for losing a seat in the house today!"

He also called for the chairman of the Nassau County Republican Committee to resign following the loss, stating, "The @NassauNYGOP chairman needs to resign today!"

According to the Daily Mail, Santos was voted out of Congress in December after being confronted with numerous criminal charges, including laundering campaign funds and defrauding donors. Over 100 Republicans joined Democrats in voting to expel him, resulting in a final tally of 311-114.

Internet users label George Santos a 'pathological liar'

A user conveyed to Santos, "You have only yourself to blame."

Another user wrote, "Maybe be honest with yourself and voters next time. You were ultimately responsible for your own demise."

A user commented, "If only you had refrained from being a pathological liar..."

Another user asserted, "The seat was lost thanks to your conduct."
