WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden was deeply concerned that his son Hunter Biden might face prison time as he heads for trial in the felony gun case next month, reported Politico.

According to the outlet, three unnamed advisers within the Biden administration expressed concerns that the impending trial of Hunter Biden, slated to commence on June 3, could further intensify pressure on the 81-year-old president during an already challenging political period for him and his family.

"He worries about Hunter every single day, from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to sleep," one of the advisers said. "That will only pick up during a trial."

Hunter Biden is confronting three felony charges in a case brought by attorney David Weiss. The charges stem from allegations that he acquired a Colt Cobra revolver in 2018 while purportedly struggling with addiction to crack cocaine.

All hopes for reprieve vanished when a Delaware federal court on May 14 denied Hunter's appeal to dismiss the case.

Joe Biden 'fears' likely prison sentence for Hunter Biden

The unnamed advisers close to Joe Biden claimed the incumbent had "expressed fears" about the possibility of his son serving a prison sentence if convicted in the Delaware gun case brought by his own Justice Department.

The octogenarian might watch some media coverage of his son's trial and check on him via calls and text messages during the court proceedings.

In addition, Joe purportedly expressed pride in his son and voiced confidence in his sobriety to his close allies. However, the White House would not have a "war room" to weigh upon the daily developments from Delaware.

Instead, Hunter's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, would defend him in the courtroom and the media.

Less than three weeks after the commencement of the gun trial, the tax case against Hunter would begin on June 20, which would likely go on for nearly a week. Weiss' prosecutor team brought the nine counts in the tax fraud case in California.

Hunter pleaded not guilty to the gun charges, but if convicted, he could face a maximum of 25 years prison sentence.

Internet says Hunter Biden should face jail time

Netizens refrained from expressing empathy towards the report of the president's worry over his son's likely imprisonment. Instead, they argued Hunter enjoyed the privileges of his father's presidential power.

One user wrote, "You reap what you sow." Another remarked, "If we had a real justice system, he should’ve been serving time already. Only his father‘s Presidency is keeping him out of jail."

"As he should serve time for what he did. He won’t though and the rich and connected, regardless of their political affiliation, always seem to get a .pass," a user added.

A response read, "Good! Hunter Biden should go to prison. Any other citizen certainly would."

Another person wrote, "He already would have been in jail if he wasn’t Biden’s son."

"No, he is not worried. He will pardon him," someone else chimed in. An individual stated, "Do the crime you do the time just like everyone else."

Another user added, "Well they always preach no one is above the law."
