'You'll have a number soon': George Santos trolled for complaining about 'name mismatch' while flying

QUEENS, NEW YORK: Former New York Representative George Santos took to X (formerly, Twitter) on Thursday, December 21, to air his grievances regarding “name mismatch” struggles while flying any commercial airliner in the country.

Santos wrote, “If I have a name mismatch because of my lengthy name they make me jump through hoops! Example: George Santos is not good… it needs to be George A. D. Santos or it mismatches in the clear system! Very f***ing insane!”

In a matter of days, the ousted congressman transitioned from his position in the House of Representatives to the virtual world on the personalized video platform Cameo, becoming the latest public figure to bring new interest to the video platform.

Meanwhile, following Santos’ expulsion from Congress on December 1, the state GOP’s leadership selected Mazi Melesa Pilip, a local Republican legislator in Nassau County, to run in the special election on the 13th of February, 2024, against former Democratic Rep Tom Suozzi.

Life for former Representative George Santos since expulsion

Santos, who was expelled from the House of Representatives on December 1st during his first term, immediately drew attention from Cameo customers upon joining the app.

Launched in 2017, Cameo has become known for its marketplace of pop culture's most dramatic and controversial personalities who sell personalized videos to fans.

Videos purchased from some of the internet's most contentious figures are frequently posted to social media platforms like TikTok and X, where they have gone viral.

After he began offering personalized messages at $75 per video in the initial days, Santos rapidly raised prices as demand skyrocketed.

Now each personalized video from the former congressman, most of which range from 30 seconds to a minute in length, costs $500.

In an interview with Semafor, Santos stated that he earned more from Cameo than his annual income as a member of Congress, which is $170,000, in just 48 hours of joining the app.

It is worth noting that Santos is currently facing 23 federal charges, including lying to the Federal Election Commission, money laundering, wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and theft of public funds.

However, he has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

According to reports from CNBC, political strategists estimate the forthcoming two-month race to represent the New York House district previously held by the expelled Republican congressman to incur expenses of up to $20 million.

The upcoming election scheduled for February carries high stakes for the Republicans, as they currently hold an eight-seat majority after Santos' ousting.

Given the challenging political climate anticipated next year, the party is expected to play defense to maintain their majority and the outcome of the special election will be crucial in achieving this objective for the GOP.

Internet slammed Santos for his lack of self-awareness

People on X mocked George Santos’ complaining about “name struggles” when boarding a commercial airliner in the US, given the fact that he’s embroiled in the aforementioned criminal charges which might turn out to be harder for him to push past.

One X user quipped, "Don't worry you'll have a number soon enough."
