Oscar winners, World Series MVPs, and Emmy Award winners have all been arrested for domestic abuse in the past as Sean 'Diddy' Combs' video of assault on his ex-girlfriend surfaces online. In a shocking revelation that has gone viral on the internet, Combs was reportedly seen on camera physically abusing Cassie Ventura when they were at a hotel in 2016. Other famous individuals who have been charged with domestic abuse include 'Two and a Half Men' star Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Nicolas Cage, Emma Roberts, Zachery Ty Bryan, Carmen Electra, and Tommy Lee.
1. Chris Brown
Although Rihanna's lawsuit against Chris Brown received the most attention, the troubled R&B singer was also implicated in several other offenses. The 'Under The Influence' singer's ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran filed for a restraining order against Brown in 2017 after receiving threats following his attack on Rihanna in 2009. Furthermore, Brown was accused of and detained for other offenses, including hitting a woman in the face in Los Angeles and aggravated rape.
2. Nicolas Cage
The protracted legal dispute involving Nicolas Cage began in 2011 when his ex-wife Alice Kim accused him of domestic abuse and disturbing the peace. Cage allegedly struck some adjacent automobiles and shoved his wife outside of a tattoo parlor, per Ranker. Despite the charges against Cage being withdrawn, in 2018, another former partner named Vickie Park came forward. Vickie claimed that the 'National Treasure' star mistreated her after attending the Slash Film Festival in Vienna, Austria.
3. Emma Roberts
'American Horror Story' actress Emma Roberts had a rocky relationship with her costar, Evan Peters, before their final breakup in 2019. Roberts beat up her lover Peters in Canada, leading to her being arrested for domestic violence. Roberts was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse after the authorities discovered the 'Dahmer' star in a hotel in Montreal, bearing a bite mark and bloodied nose. They issued a joint statement following the event, and Peters chose not to file charges.
4. Sean 'Diddy' Combs
Sean 'Diddy' Combs was reportedly shown violently abusing his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a 2016 hotel security footage, obtained by CNN. The video, which was allegedly shot on March 5, 2016, in a hotel in Los Angeles, shows a guy, whom the outlet identified as Combs, pursuing Ventura down a corridor, slamming her to the ground, seizing her by the back of the neck, and kicking her while she is on the ground. Then it appeared as though he grabbed her sweatshirt and pulled her across the floor.
5. Heather Locklear
In February 2018, Heather Locklear was charged with felony domestic assault and battery, per The Blast. According to a report received by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, Locklear was "extremely agitated, uncooperative and antagonistic" after hitting her ex-boyfriend. The unidentified male sustained a severe wound. Locklear was charged with three counts of striking an officer after she kicked and struck three deputies when the police attempted to take her into custody.
6. Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson entered a plea of not guilty in 2010 to a domestic violence accusation involving his ex-wife, Oksana Grigorieva. He was given a three-year probationary period, community service, and therapy after entering a plea of not guilty to the crime. Gibson's rants and profanity throughout their phone talks were made public during the controversy. Moreover, Gibson was arrested in 2006 on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
7. Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen's history of domestic abuse spans more than two decades. His issues began in January 1990, when he was accused of shooting Kelly Preston in the arm. However, he claimed in a 2011 interview that his former girlfriend had "accidentally shot herself." Sheen was taken into custody in December 1996 after hitting his then-girlfriend Brittany Ashland and banging her head on his house's marble flooring. The 'Two and a Half Men' actor was detained in 2009 on suspicion of domestic abuse after it was reported that he had attempted to strangle his ex-wife Brooke Mueller.
8. Zachery Ty Bryan
According to Radar Online, Zachery Ty Bryan's latest breach of his release agreement in a domestic abuse case was filed with the Lane County Circuit Court. The 'Home Improvement' star was accused of beating Jonnie Faye Cartwright twice in the course of six days in July 2023, leading to two counts of felony assault with domestic violence specifications being filed against him.
9. Carmen Electra
Carmen Electra was arrested in 1998 during a domestic dispute with her then-husband, NBA player Dennis Rodman. Rodman was also charged in connection with the alleged altercation over Electra's ex-boyfriend's appearance on television. Electra revealed at the time that she and basketball player Rodman had a very tumultuous marriage. The model claimed that their relationship was extremely passionate, to the point that it was the best when things were going well and the worst when they weren't.
10. Tommy Lee
Rock star Tommy Lee of Motley Crue was detained twice in 1994 and 1998 on charges of domestic abuse. Lee has been detained multiple times for charges including disturbing the peace, indecent exposure, and inciting a riot. In 1998, Lee was given a six-month sentence in Los Angeles County Jail for beating his then-wife, actress Pamela Anderson Lee. He was also given a warning that if he broke the terms of his following probation, he would spend three years in state prison.
