Actors and their coworkers sometimes struggle to get along, just like anyone in a regular job. After filming is over, actors occasionally publicly criticize their co-stars, but sometimes they cannot hold up for that long. For instance, Lawrence Tierney played Elaine's father in one 'Seinfeld' episode; however, he was never brought back because he "scared the living crap" out of the other actors. These 10 instances reveal when performers were successful or came close to getting their co-stars fired.

1. Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf

Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf were supposed to co-star in the Broadway production of 'Orphans' in 2013, but "there was friction between [them] from the beginning." They argued because Baldwin was unaware of his lines ahead of time while LaBeouf knew them fully before rehearsals began. Once, Baldwin claimed that LaBeouf had "attacked [him] in front of everyone," so he demanded a break, arranged a meeting with the stage manager and director, and stated that he had to decide between the two of them. They chose to fire LaBeouf instead of accepting his offer to resign.

2. Tori Spelling and Shannen Doherty

Tori Spelling confessed on 'Celebrity Lie Detector' that there were a lot of conflicts between Shannen Doherty and the other cast members on the 'Beverly Hills, 90210' set, per Entertainment Tonight. Tori Spelling recalled an incident on set when Shannen ran into hair and makeup when others were ready to film which led to a "heated fight" with Ian Ziering. Everyone banded together to get Shannen fired, and Tori called her father, executive producer Aaron Spelling, to make it happen. Tori later revealed that she felt she had made the right decision "in the workplace, as a coworker."

Lead actor and executive producer Charlie Sheen allegedly threatened to leave 'Anger Management' in 2013 if Selma Blair, who was said to have doubts about his work ethic, wasn't fired by the producers. He allegedly fired her himself in a text message full of expletives less than a day later. Selma only tweeted, "I thank you for support and love," in reaction to her firing. Later on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno', Charlie refuted rumors that he had fired Selma, saying, "One of our primary characters, Selma Blair, who played Kate, was written out because [the show] was not about our relationship, and the problem was too many people were still excited about the Two and a Half [Men] character and thought the Anger Management character was a little dull," per the Hollywood Reporter.

4. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams reportedly had a lot of arguments on the set of 'The Notebook.' Director Nick Cassavetes revealed to VH1, "They were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. And Ryan came to me ... and he says, 'Nick, come here'. And he's doing a scene with Rachel, and he says, 'Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off-camera with me?' I said, 'What?' He says, 'I can't. I can't do it with her. I'm just not getting anything from this'." However, the actors eventually had an "enemies to lovers" romance while filming, and they dated for two years following the film's premiere.

Richard Gere initially played Chico in the 1974 film 'The Lords of Flatbush', but he and lead actor Sylvester Stallone were reportedly at odds at the time. During an improvised fight scene one day, Gere got "a little carried away" and would not lighten up since he was "in character and impossible to deal with." The final straw was when Gere spilled mustard and chicken grease on Stallone's clothes later that day while the two actors were eating lunch in the back of a car. "The director had to make a choice: One of us had to go, one of us had to stay. Richard was given his walking papers and to this day seriously dislikes me," Stallone later revealed.

Samantha Ware revealed in an interview that when she was having fun off-camera on the 'Glee' set, Lea Michele "took that as me being disrespectful to her," per Variety. After filming a scene, Lea allegedly wanted to reprimand Samantha and beckoned her to come over, but when she declined Lea "said she would call Ryan Murphy [producer] in to come and fire me." Samantha claimed at the time, "It's scary. For the full week, I was thinking I'm probably going to get an email, and I might not be able to do the last three episodes, or I might not be able to sing another song." Representatives for Lea declined to respond to Samantha's claims at the time.

During the 2015 Television Critics Association press tour, John Stamos admitted that it was true and that he briefly succeeded, in attempting to have Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen tossed from 'Full House'. John said, "It's sort of true that the Olsen twins cried a lot. It was very difficult to get the shot. So I [said], 'Get them out…!' That is actually 100 percent accurate" He added, "They brought in a couple of unattractive redheaded kids. We tried that for a while, and that didn’t work. [Producers] were like, all right, get the Olsen twins back. And that’s the story."

8. Lawrence Tierney

Lawrence Tierney, who appeared in one episode of 'Seinfeld' as the character Elaine Benes's father, was never brought back because the other actors felt he was frightening and threatening. Julia Louis Dreyfus, who played Elaine, stated, "It's too bad he was so cuckoo because I'm sure he would've been back otherwise," while Jason Alexander added, "Lawrence Tierney, I think, scared the living crap out of all of us." He added: "There was every reason in the world to have that be an ongoing character because there was just so much tension between him and every other character. It was brilliant."

Producer Jon Peters intended to replace Sean Young, who was cast to play Vicky Vale in the 1989 film 'Batman' but had to withdraw due to an injury, with Michelle Pfeiffer. However, Michelle Pfeiffer was Michael Keaton's ex-girlfriend, and he was allegedly trying to win back his ex-wife at the time, so he rallied against the casting decision. "Keaton was firmly, and underline firmly, against that casting of Pfeiffer, and he and Peters got into it," costar Robert Wuhl stated to the Hollywood Reporter. The role eventually went to Kim Basinger while Pfeiffer was cast as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the sequel 'Batman Returns'.

Susan, played by Heidi Swedberg on 'Seinfeld', was killed off because the other cast members felt she was "impossible" to play off of. "Her instincts for doing a scene, where the comedy was, and mine were always misfiring... Julia [Louis-Dreyfus] actually said, 'Don't you want to just kill her?' And Larry [David] went, 'Ka-bang!'" Jason Alexander stated on the 'Howard Stern Show', per the Hollywood Reporter. Jason later tweeted, "OK, folks, I feel officially awful," in an attempt to retract the way he had presented the story.
