10 celebs who seriously believe in aliens and UFO sightings: From Miley Cyrus to Whoopi Goldberg
Hollywood's UFO frenzy: 10 stars who believe in aliens
The prospect of the existence of extraterrestrial life has found several staunch believers over the years, including celebrities like Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, and Kurt Russell, among others. Even director Stephen Spielberg believes people have seen UFOs. UFO researchers have even proposed that real-world UFO sightings have been exacerbated by Hollywood's fixation on extraterrestrials, a phenomenon dubbed the 'Will Smith effect' after his role in 'Independence Day'. Here's a list of 10 celebrities who believe in aliens.
1. Miley Cyrus
Singer Miley Cyrus claimed to have "made eye contact" with the alien pilot while being pursued by "some sort of UFO" in San Bernardino, California, per Daily Mail. In a 2020 interview with Interview magazine, she stated that following her encounter, she "couldn't really look at the sky after." She said at the time, "I did see it flying, and my friend saw it, too. There were a couple of other cars on the road and they also stopped to look, so I think what I saw was real. I didn't feel threatened at all actually, but I did see a being sitting in front of the flying object."
2. Demi Lovato
In a June 2014 interview with Seth Meyers, the 'Anyone' singer stated that they believe there are aliens. Lovato claimed to have experienced extraterrestrial contact before filming the Peacock docuseries 'Unidentified With Demi Lovato'. "We went out into the desert in Joshua Tree and I basically saw this blue orb that was about 50 feet away, maybe less, and it was kind of, like, floating above the ground, just like 10 or 15 feet, and it was kind of keeping its distance from me," Lovato told Daily Pop in September 2021.
3. Kurt Russell
The 1997 sighting of the Phoenix Lights, observed above Arizona and Nevada, is among the most popular UFO sightings in recent times. However, it's possible that Hollywood actor Kurt Russell, who was piloting his own private jet, was the first to notice the "alien" lights. Russell might have even been the first to report the sighting when he reported the lights to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport's control tower. Russell said at the time, "I saw six lights over the airport in absolute uniform in a V shape."
4. Nick Jonas
The singer is still frightened after reporting to have seen "three flying saucers" in his Los Angeles garden more than ten years ago. Jonas recalled in an interview, "I looked at my friend and said, 'Are you seeing this or am I losing my mind?'" He has theories about the blue lights that flashed in the California sky a few years ago and were ultimately identified as a missile test.
5. Whoopi Goldberg
Goldberg testified in July 2023 that she "knew" aliens existed when a congressional inquiry on UFOs uncovered evidence that the US government had retrieved "non-human" remains from space objects. Goldberg said on 'The View' at the time, "We're not the only ones in the universe. We're just not." The 'Ghost' actress went on to say that there is no threat to humanity from the supposed presence of aliens. "Yes, I do believe," Goldberg retorted when asked if she believes that aliens are "among us," per Us Weekly.
6. Goldie Hawn
Hawn claimed she had a "powerful" experience with aliens in the California desert when she was 20 years old while pointing out that there were "a lot of UFO sightings" going around at the time. In an October 2023 episode of Apple Fitness+'s 'Time to Walk' audio program, she said, "They touched my face and it felt like the finger of God. It was the most benevolent, loving feeling. This was powerful. It was filled with light," per People. Hawn reported feeling a "high-pitched sound" at a "high, high frequency" in her ear. "They were silver in color, slash for a mouth, tiny little nose, no ears," Hawn added.
7. Bill Nye
The adored scientist and former 'Bill Nye the Science Guy' anchor shared his theory during the June 2019 New York City premiere of 'Men in Black: International'. Nye posted a selfie on X (formerly Twitter) at the time, along with the caption, "At Men In Black premiere. There are 200 billion stars in our galaxy. That's likely 2 trillion planets. Aliens gotta be out there…"
8. Tiffany Haddish
In an August 2023 interview, Haddish shared her views on aliens. She said to Yahoo Entertainment, "I do believe in aliens to a certain extent. I’m pretty sure I work with some. But I do believe in them. … They’re in Hollywood, New York, Alabama, Atlanta. All of Georgia … Particularly in Peachtree, Georgia. I think that’s where they’re really at. Texas. They’re everywhere."
9. Jennifer Lawrence
In December 2015, the 'Passengers' actress remarked about her alien phobia on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'. Lawrence said at the time, "Based on history, when we find each other, we kill each other. I don't feel like aliens are going to be like, 'Oh, great! Let's get along.' They might not. They might want to destroy us. Have you seen a Tom Cruise movie? So, sometimes I look up into the stars and I'm like, 'Oh, wow. Oh, God'."
10. Muhammad Ali
The boxer openly discussed his personal UFO experiences and was a strong believer in UFOs. According to the book, 'Amazing Flying Saucer Experiences of Celebrities, Rock Stars and the Rich and Famous', he saw a UFO in New York's Central Park. Ali wrote, "I happened to look up just before dawn, as I often do while running, and there hovering above us was this brilliant light hanging as if by an invisible thread. At first I thought it was a beacon projected from a helicopter. But moments later a similar object passed in front of us."
