10 times Candace Owens stirred controversy: From downplaying Holocaust to defending Kanye West
10 of Candace Owens' bizarre remarks that stirred controversy
Political commentator Candace Owens is no stranger to stirring up controversy. Over the years, the 35-year-old has picked up feuds and made wild remarks against prominent figures in the entertainment industry and politics. In May, the leading conservative voice left The Daily Wire, the right-wing platform where she rose to prominence, following escalating tensions with co-founder Ben Shapiro. Here are 10 controversial remarks Owens made against people, including Joe Biden, Donald Trump, and Meghan Markle.
1. Criticism of JD Vance as Donald Trump's VP pick
Candace Owens disapproved when Donald Trump named Ohio Sen JD Vance his running mate last month. The Trump ally expressed her dismay by reposting a video of Vance's interview on Fox News regarding Iran on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "Like is it possible for us to get one effing person in office who doesn't immediately speak about how we need to continue bombing the Middle East? We do not need to do ANYTHING with Iran."

The pro-Trumper was quick to comment when President Joe Biden announced his exit from the 2024 race on July 21. Candace Owens labeled the octogenarian "a lost grandpa" and "a senior citizen who has been on the mental decline," as per OK Magazine. She added, "That's a really big announcement, but also, there's a little piece of you that knows that all of this is a little fake and g**, right?" Owens then said that the voters were not being told the truth, and Biden's statement on X (formerly Twitter) was posted by somebody else.
3. Berating Gigi Hadid after she called Kanye West a 'bully'
Candace Owens came in support of Kanye West amid his dispute with Gigi Hadid and even dragged Pete Davidson into the feud. She criticized the supermodel and asked whether it was "trauma or violence" when she labeled the rapper "a bully and a joke." "My bigger question for GiGi [sic] is whether or not she felt it was bullying when Pete had your children's name carved into his neck and was walking around with that after 6 minutes of dating Kim," said Owens, adding that everyone was unusually quiet and unconcerned about "mental health" while a man watched the media normalize another man tattooing his children's names on his body.
4. Strange claim about Muslims residing in Jerusalem
During a November 2023 episode of her 'Candace Owens Podcast', the commentator asserted that Muslins only resided in a particular area in Jerusalem. The remark confused her guest, Ami Kozak, who is a Jewish comedian and musician. Owens made the claim after purportedly hearing it from a rabbi. However, Kozak jumped in and corrected her.
5. Accusing Meghan Markle of influencing Prince Harry
Earlier this year, Candace Owens claimed Prince Harry was manipulated by Meghan Markle into relocating to the US. "I knew they would end up in LA because that was Meghan's dream. Her dream was to be an A-lister, and she was unable to make it on the basis of her own merit as an actress," said Owens on GB News, asserting that the 'Suits' actress had the upper hand in their relationship.
6. Comments on Eminem's sexuality
Eminem criticizing Candace Owens in his songs 'Lucifer' and 'Bad Ones' prompted her to retort with a controversial remark about his sexual orientation. She said, "The first thing I want to say is that Eminem is obviously a g** man. It's very sad that Eminem cleaned out his closet but never came out of his closet." Owens took a further dig at him, saying that he was actually recycling things that Black women had said about her on the Internet.
7. Suggesting experiments performed on Jewish children during the Holocaust could be 'propaganda'
Another bizarre comment by the former Daily Wire employee was regarding the Jewish children's lives during the Holocaust. In a video on X (formerly Twitter), she ignited controversy by claiming that experiments done on Jewish children in the concentration camps could be "just propaganda." "Some of the stories, by the way, sound completely absurd," said Owens, adding, "The idea they just cut a human up and sewed them back together. Why would you do that? Literally, even if you're the most evil person in the world, that's a tremendous waste of time and supplies. That just sounds like bizarre propaganda."
8. Calling Don Lemon and his husband Tim Malone's relationship a 'sin'
Candace Owens does not support Don Lemon's marriage to his longtime partner, Tim Malone. During an appearance on the former CNN host's podcast, the conservative commentator remarked, "I actually don't believe that marriage can be between two men. You are sinning. You are in a sinful relationship."
9. Bizarre claim about her husband being nearly shot by Secret Service agents
Candace Owens made a weird claim about her husband, George Farmer, being nearly shot by the Secret Service after Donald Trump's narrow escape from an attempted assassination in July. She claimed, "I am not kidding when I say that my husband once almost got shot by the Secret Service, because he came down a staircase. I was speaking at the NRA, and he snaked in and came down, and they didn't know who he was. They were like, 'Freeze, we will shoot you right now.'" Owens made this bizarre assertion about her husband of five years to emphasize that Trump's shooter was allowed into the perimeter of the Butler, Philadelphia rally with the knowledge of the Secret Service agents.
10. Supporting Kanye West during his dispute with Kim Kardashian
Candace Owens' tendency to stir up controversy by jumping into other people's disputes was evident when she inserted herself into Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's 2022 feud. She jumped into his defense when the rapper slammed his ex-wife for letting their child, North West, be on TikTok without his consent. Owens weighed in, saying the beauty mogul was "wrong on this one" because the psychological impact of social media was "real and documented." Owens added that Kanye was "trying to protect his daughter."
